Position Specific Description
The Principal Technical Specialist will lead and manage key projects related to NERC Operations and Planning (O&P) compliance within NextEra Energy. This role requires the ability to oversee complex programs and projects, ensuring they meet regulatory standards and are executed efficiently. The individual will work collaboratively with various departments to support compliance initiatives and ensure successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management:
Develop process and program models to meet compliance requirements for all NERC O&P standards.
Establish program health metrics and drive successful outcomes with cross functional stakeholders
Charter projects and initiatives to drive certainty and efficiency for all compliance deliverables
Project Planning & Initiation:
Define project goals, objectives, scope, and deliverables that support NERC compliance and align with organizational objectives.
Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets.
Monitor and track project progress, performance, and compliance adherence using appropriate tools and techniques.
Conduct project reviews, audits, and quality assurance checks to maintain high standards of compliance.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including operations, engineering, legal, and regulatory agencies, to ensure seamless execution.
Facilitate effective communication and provide regular updates to stakeholders on project/program status, risks, and issues.
Leadership & Development:
Mentor and guide project/program team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Lead change management efforts related to project implementations.
Qualifications:
6 years of professional experience.
Proven experience in managing complex projects, including developing project plans, timelines, and budgets.
Desired Qualifications:
Advanced degree (Master’s or above) in a relevant field.
Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM).
Experience within the energy sector, particularly with regulated utilities.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong project management skills with proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Maximo, etc.).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
