This position pays between$62,454.00 to $83,272.00 and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

POSITION CONCEPT

Primary responsibility is in the area of safety. Serves in a business partner capacity, providing Safety expertise and support for regional business units, with general guidance and assistance from Corporate Safety. Assists Corporate Safety and TECO Claims in the investigation of accidents. Maintains current knowledge of safety policies and best practices and in conjunction with Corporate Safety, implements selected initiatives.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consults with corporate safety and gas operations management to implement Company safety policies and procedures and compliance with relevant federal, state and local regulations.

  • Conducts safety training for Company sponsored safety courses and safety orientation for new hires.

  • Conducts safety and environmental inspections of operational facilities, vehicles and equipment.

  • Facilitates Safety Committee meetings and initiatives.

  • Oversees the investigation of Company incidents, coordinates the completion of all required paperwork and conducts notifications to key internal and external groups. Responds to fires and major incidents pertaining to natural gas.

  • Serves as a Company Safety Liaison to local counties and municipalities for Public Awareness which includes conducting natural gas fire schools for local fire departments.

  • May assist in the development and presentation of technical training and training and evaluation for operator qualifications.

  • Assists in emergency coordination and preparedness for storm and natural gas incident readiness and response.

  • Assists with budget preparation and maintenance for Safety.

  • Performs additional job functions as needed by Corporate Safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required:

ValidHigh school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in safety or related field, from a regionally accredited college/university.

Licenses/Certifications

Required:

Must have current valid driver’s license

Preferred:

Industry recognized safety certificate, accreditation or other safety related certifications

Experience

Required:

Minimum of 7 years of work experience related to the duties and & responsibilities of this position is required. Related experience consists of:

  • Natural gas operations work experience in a technical capacity with progressively more complex assignments;

  • Participation in presentation/training delivery

  • Participation in safety committees

  • Safety professional work experience

Preferred:

Knowledge of Federal, State and Local Labor Laws

Required:

Knowledge and understanding of Company policies, procedures, rules and regulations with particular emphasis on safety processes and procedures; Ability to work independently with good project management skills; Computer literacy; Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and effective presentation skills; Strong customer/team work orientation; High degree of professionalism, tact and diplomacy while maintaining organizational relationships

WORKING CONDITIONS

Maintains an "on call" status (24/7) that in the event of a serious mishap or incident, can report to the location to assist/coordinate in investigations, as needed. Regular travel throughout the state by motor vehicle required.
