POSITION CONCEPT

The Business Development Manager, under minimum supervision, builds and maintains relationships with new and established residential multifamily developers, project engineers and related architects. Assist the Regional Sales Manager in designing and implementing sales strategies and identifying potential growth areas. Supports company efforts to increase sales of natural gas. Acts as the liaison between the company, contractors, Gas Advantage Dealers, consulting architects/engineers and residential multi-family developers/owners. This position may require statewide sales coverage depending on market conditions or as directed by management.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for signing agreements with new multi-family developments and customers, maintaining and developing business relationships with existing and potential residential multi-family developers/owners in the assigned market areas. (25%)

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the presale negotiations for residential multi-family projects and developments. Provides courteous, responsive service to existing residential multi-family projects when asked for assistance to assist with customer retention. (15%)

  • Continuously communicates with management, operations and co-workers to ensure we are delivering our services on time and exceeding our customers’ expectations. (10%)

  • Consults with residential multi-family developers/owners on current market conditions, areas for natural gas expansion and other potential growth opportunities (10 %)

  • Coordinates all pre and post sales efforts with operations and regional managers. (10%)

  • Gains trust and credibility as an industry expert by completely understanding the energy industry and by providing solutions for our residential multi-family developer/owners. (10%)

  • Keeps abreast of the products, building codes and regulations technical requirements, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends in the assigned market areas. (10%)

  • Attend and participate in tradeshows and conventions (i.e. AIA institute, education seminars, marketing events) Performs all other duties as assigned. (10%)

Direct Supervision: No Direct Reports

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience

Related Experience

Required: Minimum of 3 years technical/sales experience in related field. Preferred: 5-7 years of technical/sales experience in related field.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities(KSA)

Required: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Strong leadership and negotiation skills. Proven ability to solicit new business through cold calling. Mechanical, Electrical, and plumbing related technical experience.

Preferred: Knowledge of TECO Energy products and services, the natural gas and energy industry, residential multi-family development industry.
