Provide technical expertise to support operations, maintenance and optimization of Unified Communications (voice/video conference) hardware and software solutions. Includes client support, incident and change management queues and tools. Provide IT teams and business personnel with technology solutions by weighing advantages of technology standards, market availability of products, risks and benefits of technology to meet business/IT needs. Expected to work under minimal supervision.


  • Provide technical expertise and/or operations support for optimizing performance and reliability of the Unified Communications (voice/video conference) solutions. Monitor incident and request queues for daily activities necessary to support the enterprise. Provide technical expertise and implement hardware/software platform upgrades or enhancements as directed by the Engineering team. Contribute to technical project activities including new builds or site decommission. Support on-call rotation. 40%

  • Assist IT Architecture and Engineering community in planning the introduction of Unified Communications Solutions and/or identifying the most appropriate technology choices to accomplish goals by utilizing Exelon’s standard governance process as outlined in the Management Model. Ensure appropriate implementation and operational turnover of technology within the production environments. 15%

  • Build and maintain knowledge of new technologies or technology opportunities and assist in analysis of their use for business and/or IT clients. 15%

  • Identify and provide Business and IT data on IT trends and issues. Participate in review and standards setting. Assist in providing feedback within IT for platform efficiencies & optimization. 15%

  • Maintain and enhance engagement with business and IT partners. 10%

  • Maintain technical knowledge and business acumen within own discipline or function. 5%



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically 10 years’ experience in Unified Communications with a specialty of Cisco Unified Communications Voice and Video Conference Services and Microsoft Skype for Business within a large-scale Enterprise environment or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Broad technical knowledge in the areas of Call Control, Session Border Controllers, Gateways, Video Conference and supporting protocols within the Unified Communications environment.

  • Excellent communications skills - Able to effectively communicate highly technical information in non-technical terminology (written and verbal).

  • Understanding of change management principles associated with new technology implementations. - ITIL Certification

  • Demonstrated leadership ability

  • Understanding of project management principles


  • CCNA Collaboration or Route/Switch

  • CCNP Collaboration or Route/Switch

  • Cisco Unified Communications – voice/video conference.

  • Oracle SBC-Session Boarder Controller hands on knowledge and Operational support.

  • ITIL Certification

Position Scope

  • Maintain deep knowledge of Unified Communications technology and its application across Exelon.

  • Maintain incident, tasks, quotes and request management queues for the Unified Communications Operations team.

  • Participate in 24x7x365 support of the Enterprise Unified Communications environment. Includes participation in on-call rotation.

  • Provide Operations support of internal and business unit sponsored project activities; new builds, enhancements or upgrades.

  • Maintain and/or implement new software/firmware updates on Enterprise Unified Communications platforms to meet security, regulatory or compliance standards.

  • Promote knowledge via seminars, presentations and publications within IT and Exelon.

  • Participate in technological innovation to drive new business opportunities and solve complex business problems

  • Work under minimal supervision.
