The IT Technical Project Manager (Digital Projects) is responsible for managing the overall implementation of IT Digital projects. The role manages various programs and projects and provides relationship management on behalf of the AVANGRID IT group with objectives of providing an IT technical solution to meet the requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner.
1.Provides leadership on various programs and projects. Management includes development of scope, creation of project team, management of project team (Matrix style) across business and IT areas (Architecture, Infrastructure, Governance, Security, Networking), Solution design creation, Solution Sign off, project design execution, Operational handover and close out.
2.Interfaces with Global counterparts to review solution design and facilitate best practice process considerations in solution design.3.Leads cross-functional project teams. Holds regular program/project status meetings.
4.Is the lead team member with respect to accomplishing day-to-day goals and provides direction and leads decision making. Holds project team members accountable for results.
5.Provides linkage to management for decision making outside of day-to-day program/project team activities.6.Manages Vendor relationships, system integrators, contractors and contingent workers on a project by project basis. Project team size for any single project can vary between 5-30 resources. 7.Demonstrate an ability to blend traditional project management principles and practices with an Agile development approach to provide the appropriate level of planning. 8.Determine project management delivery style based on methodologies available, the project requirements and the Vendor requirements. Required to adapt to new styles based on Vendor where applicable, train/coach vendor on AVANGRID process or manage working in an AGILE way where applicable, using the methodology artifacts to conduct the project (vision canvas, roadmap, PBF, MVP, product backlog, user stories, sprint backlog and product increment.9.Execute the Scrum Master role when the Agile methodology is used in the project, being responsible for ensuring that the Scrum methodology is understood and used effectively. Leading the development team, removing any impediments to project progress, facilitating events, and coaching the team members. Assists the Product Owner with managing the backlog and communicating the project vision. 10.Participates in preparation of plans and budgets for programs and projects. Manages progress against plans and take corrective action to offset variances. Reports to management on progress status. 11.Responsible for meeting corporate objective for capital investment. Manages projects to approved scope, schedule and budget. Budget owner for own project portfolio, required to deliver to target and report status to the Digital Director on monthly basis. 12.Provides relationship management for business areas.13.Develops Key project dashboards for review with AVANGRID CIO on monthly basis.14.Responsible for the Applications Lifecycle Management, including the definition, adoption and evolution of AGILE methodology and DEVOPS Tools. Conduct quality checks to ensure that ALM, for both Waterfall and AGILE methodology, is properly adopted and applied across IT.15.Responsible for innovation target within Global IT and Avangrid. Required to submit ideas to global IT for innovation and execute Proof of concepts on approved ideas. 16.Perform Lead role for IT in any Storm related activities – IT Event Coordinator.When activated this report directly to the Area Commander and provide co-ordination services across the entire IT organization. Attend all area command meetings and report IT status as required
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required in IT, Business, Finance or a related field
•7 years relevant experience required.
•Microsoft Suite advanced user.Certification for Project/Program management (preferred).
•Trained in Agile Methodology.Certified ScrumMaster (Preferred)
•Knowledge of IT design and architecture.
•Management skills including staff development and budget.
•3-5 years of IT work experience preferred, including project management experience.
•Strong service delivery experience, preferably within IT.
•Experience in leading projects and / or teams
•Prior management supervisory, experience.
•Knowledge of IT business and financial aspects.
