Responsibilities

Scope of Work:

Reporting to the Vice President, Sustainability, the Manager, Sustainability Strategic Projects will work in a demanding and high-profile organization responsible for working across the business to drive strategies and programs that support AVANGRID’s ESG+F strategy and positions AVANGRID as the leading sustainable energy company in the US.

In this role, you will work closely with the Vice President to support strategic sustainability initiatives and drive accountability and coordination for those activities across a matrixed organization which includes coordination across the organization including Corporate, Networks and Renewables businesses as well as parent company representatives (Iberdrola S.A.) headquartered in Madrid, Spain.

Sustainability is an evolving area. New regulation and global and US initiatives will drive new programs and requirements. The Manager will coordinate and lead major strategic projects, such as SEC Climate Disclosure and EU CSRD as well as other new and emerging initiatives.

In this role, you will work closely with the Sustainability team to ensure projects are aligned with Avangrid’s holistic strategy for sustainability initiatives and drive accountability and coordination for those activities across a matrixed organization.

Primary areas of responsibilities will include implementation and coordination of strategic projects across the business related to sustainability and ensure efficient and effective coordination and integration of the projects in ESG+F education, information and metrics across the organization.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on Sustainability program development and implementation

• Manage and coordinate Sustainability strategic initiatives aligned with Avangrid’s ESG+F strategy.

• Builds relationships and connections across business to promote and coordinate sustainability within the company

• Ensure alignment and coordination with the Sustainability team responsible for reporting requirements and data collection with global Iberdrola Group.

• Work closely with Iberdrola Group colleagues to ensure global objectives are considered and reflected at AVANGRID level.

• Manage and deliver special projects in the Sustainability areas.

Skills and Requirements

Education & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in ESG program management and reporting

  • Proven leadership skills. Project management experience

  • Bachelors’ Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience and minimum 3-4 years industry experience.

  • Detail oriented and demonstrated success in implementing similar projects including system implementation and reporting experience

  • Experience working across organizations including in a highly matrixed organization managing multiple stakeholders.

  • Proven project management experience

  • Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent project management, interpersonal and communications skills

• Strong analytical and organizational skills. Clear communicator

• Establishes credibility throughout the organization as strong collaborator

• Bilingual capability preferred; fluency in Spanish and English in both written and verbal communication desired

• Able to work in high pressure situations with grace and composure.

• Ability to multi-task and quickly prioritize projects and work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
