Job Summary

This position manages compliance oversight for NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards for Avangrid Networks, working with applicable Avangrid departments responsible for operational compliance activities:

  • Provides leadership across the applicable departments to the management and professional staff

  • Develops departmental strategic and business/operational plans, including organizational priorities

  • Requires a high level of authority to define goals and outcomes for the applicable departments

  • Provide tight integration and coordinated for the applicable departments

Major Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision to Cyber Compliance staff

  • Ensure that all elements of the NERC Reliability Standards Program are completed to schedule

  • Establish and monitor Compliance Program milestones for CIP Standards

  • Compliance metrics reporting and preparation of regular Compliance updates to leadership

  • Coordinate compliance teams as determined by Program requirements

  • Hold regular Program meetings and document key decisions and progress toward compliance requirements

  • Identify and resolve Compliance Program issues

  • Provide preparation and coordination for all internal and external Compliance audits

  • Identification of Risk to the Avangrid Compliance Program

  • Lead the analysis for any potential non-compliance

  • Interface with NERC and NPCC staff as needed

  • Participate in industry work groups and committees associated with the NERC CIP Standards (e.g., NATF, EEI).

Job Requirements

Education & Experience Required:

  • Master’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Cyber Compliance or

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in Cyber Compliance

  • Experience in a supervisory/managerial/leadership position for technical systems or management.

Skills/ Abilities:

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Firm grasp of and experience dealing with FERC/NERC regulatory requirements

  • Proven written and verbal communication skills

  • Teambuilding and coaching expertise

  • Highly skilled in organizational practices with attention to detail

Desired Skills/ Abilities:

  • Knowledge of federal government cybersecurity activities and practices

  • Experience in federal or state regulatory environments

  • Experience in federal cybersecurity agencies and environments

  • Experience in utility environments

  • Experience in identification and implementation of internal controls, root cause analysis, corrective action, mitigation and risk

  • Experience with regulatory Audits
