JOB SUMMARY:

Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

This position provides effective leadership, direction, planning, administration and management of AVANGRID's H&W; benefits and Retirement areas. Researches, develops, recommends, and oversees the administration of new or modified plans and policies across the corporation, including, but not limited to cafeteria plans, medical, dental, vision, life, disability, sick, COBRA, retiree medical, benefits statements, FSA, HSA, defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, nonqualified plans and leave administration. Manages, develops, and evaluates a team of managers and analysts. Coordinates outsourcing and vendor management. Works collaboratively with Finance, Legal and other HR areas as needed to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, company policies, and regulations. Develops and stays within budgets.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

  1. Create, design and manage competitive retirement and health & welfare strategies, policies, and procedures that support AVANGRID's strategies and goal of attracting, rewarding, and retaining top talent while applying cost controls.
  2. Ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory provisions (including IRS, DOL, ERISA), and labor contracts.
  3. Comply with and maintain records that support Regulatory requests (e.g. rate cases, management audits, orders) for data and information, as well as internal (SOX) and external audits.4. Manage vendors and costs.
  4. Develop and maintain departmental budgets.
  5. Support union negotiations, regulatory activities (e.g. audits, rate cases), and fiduciary committee.7. Maintain and manage benefits modules in SAP.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience Required:

  • Requires BS/BA in Business, HR Management or Finance and 10 or more years of experience in HR, with the majority of those years focused on health & welfare plans design & administration.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a supervisory/management role.

  • Minimum seven years’ experience designing, implementing and administering H&W; and retirement programs.

  • SAP knowledge preferred.

  • Strong supervisory skills.

  • Knowledge of compliance requirements (ERISA, IRS, DOL, PBGC, etc.).

  • A quantitative orientation.

  • Customer service.

  • Successful vendor management.

  • Experience driving results in a multi-company organization.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Certification in Benefits (CEBS or CBP), PHR, or GPHR preferred

  • Benefits background with solid understanding of benefit plan design, administration, compliance, reporting, communication, and customer service

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and achieve goals that support the company's goals and maintain high levels of customer service while remaining compliant with all applicable rules, laws, regulations, and policies

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to reason through data and make good judgments in applying information. Solid foundation in the analysis, understanding, and knowledge of business financials

  • Strong supervisory, influencing, communication, negotiation, presentation, negotiation, and vendor management skills

  • Ability to readily identify needs and requirements, and establish plans and processes to ensure successful results

  • Use SAP and PC software tools for reports, analysis, audits, and presentations

  • Familiarity with state and federal government legislation and regulations related to benefits

  • Must be a team player - setting a professional tone and establishing cooperative partnerships within the Human Resources team and all levels of the company

  • Proven success modernizing operations and increasing efficiency while providing high levels of customer service
