Are you interested in making sure that companies do right by their stakeholders, including employees, customers, communities, and the environment? As part of our program, you will work alongside members of the Compliance Division on important projects that maintain the company’s reputation, reduce its legal and regulatory risk, and provide assurance to business processes. The ideal candidate will have an interest in understanding applicable legal, regulatory, and ethical standards and engaging in activities that make them understood and followed. Examples include reducing the opportunity for fraud and theft, avoiding conflicts of interest, and ensuring separation between the company’s regulated utility distribution and unregulated renewables generation businesses. Your day may include helping develop employee trainings, conducting investigations, and monitoring data and risk information.

The Division bases its program on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and U.S. Department of Justice guidance (refer to its Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs).

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Learn about Avangrid’s business and help achieve the objectives of the compliance program by working on projects that ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and the company’s ethical standards (like presentations, trainings, data monitoring, and investigations).

  • Work with the Compliance Division team to develop skills and knowledge critical to understanding and reducing compliance risk, like legal frameworks, training curriculum development, and project management.

  • Work closely with other groups in the company, such as regulatory, legal, human resources, and business teams.

  • Work in an innovative and energized environment with a chance to make an impact.

  • Create a comprehensive presentation of your work completed during the program for presentation to the wider organization at the conclusion of the program.

Education & Experience Required:

  • Currently pursuing a Juris Doctorate Degree (first year/1L) or a master's/professional degree in accounting, regulation, risk management, finance, or business.

  • An interest in corporate investigations, corporate governance, and corporate compliance – building the training, policies, and processes that ensure compliance with the company’s ethical standards and applicable laws and regulations.

Avangrid employees may be assigned a system emergency role and in the event of a system emergency, may be required to work outside of their regular schedule/job duties. This is applicable to employees that will work in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and New York within AVANGRD Network and Corporate functions.
