Underground Construction Project Manager in Ontario, California
Underground Construction is currently seeking a Project Manager for the Ontario, CA office. The Project Manager reports to the Division Manager and is responsible for managing assigned construction projects. They serve as the primary contact with owners/clients and must continually foster a positive relationship with all parties involved. Project Managers generate and monitor cost estimates, prime contracts, schedules, subcontracts, and owner as well as subcontractor change orders, RFI’s, and process submittals.
Our projects are regulated by federal and state laws which require all employees to successfully pass criminal background checks, MVR, and drug tests (post-employment and random testing).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Incumbent must have the skills, ability, and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:
Work with Division Manager, Superintendents, and Foremen to plan, organize and direct activities concerned with road and site construction project plans
Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to a particular bid/project as assigned
Check bid source files to ensure latest information available prior to bid day
Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
Generate RFI’s necessary to establish competitive baseline
Perform material take-offs and mathematical calculations accurately
Determine type of materials, equipment, labor and subcontractors required
Monitor and control project through administrative direction of on-site foremen to ensure project is completed on schedule and within budget
Represent company in project meetings and attend strategy meetings
Work with contract administrator to manage financial aspects of contracts to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with the customer
Monitors construction and financial activities through on-site Project Managers and Engineers
Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients
Upholds all company safety practices and wears appropriate PPE when working in the field
Formulate reports concerning such areas as work progress, costs and scheduling
Other responsibilities as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervising, scheduling, assigning, monitoring and evaluating work of assigned staff are responsibilities for supervisory positions.
- May supervise a small number of project engineers
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
5+ Years of utility construction project management or experience
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or higher
Ability to estimate projects and develop cost proposals
Must be able to pass company background check/drug testing
Strong time management and prioritizing abilities
Written & verbal communications skills
Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Project & Excel
Ability to demonstrate team building, leadership and mentoring skills
Must be proficient with all project management administration activities
Ability and willingness to travel to job-sites for daily visits or extended assignments based on project needs
Must maintain valid driver's license
