Omaha Public Power District Senior Engineer - Thermal Energy in Omaha, Nebraska

OPPD is looking to add a Senior Thermal Energy Engineer to its Generation Strategy & Origination team within Systems Transformation. This role is responsible for supporting the analysis, coordination, and recommendation of new and modifications to OPPD thermal energy resources. The responsibilities include developing strategies and collaboration in origination efforts for thermal energy resources including technical guidance and coordination of funding, rate impacts and communication for these efforts which are vitally important. The position will also coordinate the inclusion of these resources into the business plans of business units associated with execution and operations. The position will engage at the national, state, and local levels creating strong relationships with our customer owners, community groups, state and local government officials and Nebraska utilities.

  • Engineering analysis and evaluation of technical generation and balance of plant specifications (mechanical/electrical).

  • Assist in the develop and implement plans and programs (1-2 years in scope) to achieve OPPD strategic objectives and to deliver desired outputs and assigned KAs.

  • Support and maintain a systematic end-to end methodology, associated processes, and any supporting technology solutions to identify, prioritize, and deliver thermal energy and any assigned BU specific projects/initiatives.

    Qualifications

Required:

  • 4-year BS Engineering degree (ABET-accredited degree)

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certificate, NERC, or other approved job-related certification

  • 5 years of equivalent engineering work experience

  • Master's degree may be considered for up to two years of experience.

  • Must demonstrate strong communication skills to facilitate relationships with customer owners, community groups, state and local government and Nebraska utilities.

Desired:

  • Master's degree in business administration and direct experience with thermal energy generation and energy marketing.

Salary Grade: S6

Minimum: $104,645

Midpoint: $130,806
