Omaha Public Power District Manager Load Forecasting and Analytics in Omaha, Nebraska
The Manager of Load Forecasting and Analytics leads development of OPPD's medium to long-term electric load forecasting activities and plays a critical role in developing OPPD's future growth strategy and operational planning. The Manager collaborates closely with key departments such as resource planning, customer service, energy marketing, risk management, financial planning, and engineering to bring together a broad picture of customer electric demand, trends, and the impact on OPPD's system.
As the leader of OPPD's Load Forecasting and Analytics team, this individual is entrusted with the critical responsibility of overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of load forecasting models. These models play a crucial role in accurately predicting electrical demand over various timescales, ranging from daily and seasonal to multi-year horizons. The ultimate goal is to develop information that allows OPPD to optimize energy supply, manage costs and effectively, and enhance grid reliability.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of OPPD, leveraging advanced analytics and interpreting trends to support future growth plans and adaption to the evolving industry landscape.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, data science, economics or other business-related area
Proven experience in load forecasting, data analytics, and predictive modeling
Experience and knowledge of data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g. Python, R, SQL)
Strong understanding of statistical models, machine learning, and data visualization techniques
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present findings to diverse audiences
Ability to apply advanced analysis methodologies, giving appropriate consideration to risk and potential impacts,
Interpret and present findings in a clear, concise manner
Proven ability to develop relationships and clearly communicate technical issues with internal and external customers in ways that can be understood by non-technical individuals
Leadership qualities and the ability to build and manage a team of analysts and data scientists.
A forward-thinking mindset with a passion for staying up-to-date with industry developments and emerging trends.
Proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Master's engineering, statistics, data science, economics or other business-related area
Prior management experience
Broad knowledge of the electric utility industry, including accounting practices and OPPD operations
Salary Grade: S8
