Omaha Public Power District Fire Protection & Access Control Coordinator in Omaha, Nebraska

The Fire Protection & Access Control Coordinator position is accountable for the Fire Alarm System responsibilities and Access Control responsibilities throughout the District.

  • Supports the day-to-day work on a daily basis scheduling fire system inspections, additional fire alarm responsibilities,

  • Coordinate with the inspection company and prepare, schedule and document required fire system inspections.

  • Acts as liaison to the inspection company.

  • Communicate and coordinate with Central Station prior to/after testing regarding testing status.

  • Communicate with building occupants and facilities prior to/during the inspection.

  • Record inspection paperwork for reference.

  • Maintain the fire alarm dialer and the Bosch receiver station location in Central Station locations.

  • Conduct or coordinate with Business Technology on panel maintenance firmware upgrades PC Board replacement/upgrades.

  • Assist OPPD’s IT units with new panel installations and firewall requirements.

  • Work with OPPD IT units to schedule server patching and upgrades.

  • Conduct installation, maintenance and replacement of access control hardware:

  • Maintaining Access Control doors, Gates, Duress Alarms, and Monetary Unlock Buttons.

  • Programming and installing new access control doors, working with the PM on numbering, etc.

  • Programming associated alarm functions and clearances to new access control doors.

  • Upgrading existing access control door hardware, removing old access control hardware.

  • Conduct or coordinate emergency repairs – replacing panel parts and existing door hardware replacements.

  • Conduct general maintenance required to sustain life safety systems.

  • Conduct or coordinate battery replacements in hardware as appropriate

  • Conduct or coordinate dirty detector cleaning and maintenance

  • Coordinate and liaison for Facilities Management Global annual visits and site reviews

  • Assist in providing input of recommendations and requirements to building remodels/new construction

  • Work with project teams on additions related to life safety and building management systems.

  • Complete quarterly NERC door inspections throughout the District

  • Training of facilities staff on the workings of the access control system and how to make repairs

  • Provide necessary requests and documentation needed for processing requests and satisfying work requests.

    Qualifications

    Required:

  • Requires knowledge of mechanical and electrical operation of varied building management equipment, associated components and computerized utility control systems.

  • Working knowledge of access control systems and fire systems.

  • Must be able to maintain, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace equipment associated with fire systems and access control systems.

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to obtain NERC access

  • Ability to use required electronic access systems to request, fulfill and document work requests

    Desired:

  • Technical training and/or experience in the areas of refrigeration and heat pump systems.

  • City of Omaha Third Grade engineer’s license

    Closing Statement

    Salary Grade: S2

    Minimum: $64,254

    Midpoint: $80,317
