Omaha Public Power District Accounting Analyst III in Omaha, Nebraska

Summary:

The Accounting Analyst III supports the department's responsibility of providing accurate and timely billing, revenue reporting and accounts receivable management activities by supporting the service order completion process; the billing and customer records administration for OPPD's service offerings; the review of customer account balances and aged debt; performing analysis and reporting of customer and operations information.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Provide accurate and timely billing, revenue reporting and accounts receivable management activities by supporting the service order completion process.

  • Perform in-depth analysis of customer account balances and related activities to provide customers with transaction detail to support the customer's account balance. Incumbent must understand complex billing for large customers.

  • Research billing discrepancies

  • Investigate and recommend actions to resolve system or account issues.

  • Support the billing and customer records administration for OPPD's service offerings; the review of customer account balances and aged debt; performing analysis and reporting of customer and operations information.

  • Responsible for validity of customer accounts and ensures accurate bills are received in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for all service order processing activities, electric service bill functions, processing account information and correcting accounts as necessary, providing notification to customers of disconnect notices and processing maintenance billing enhancement programs (i.e. specialized billings).

  • Review delinquent electric service accounts to determine accuracy of the aging of Accounts Receivable.

    Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • 4 years of experience in customer service, accounts receivable, billing or collections activities.

  • Strong technical, mathematical and analytical skills.

  • Ability to design and maintain Excel spreadsheets.

  • Perform adhoc query and analysis of customer data using query tools.

Desired:

  • Working knowledge of SQL.

  • Knowledge of utility billing, and customer service systems, meter reading systems, OPPD policies, and Customer Information Services operations and procedures is highly desired.

  • Associate's degree in accounting, business administration or management information systems.

Environment:

Work will be performed in a modern office environment amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes, and noises.

Physical Demands:

Must have the ability to: work on multiple tasks at one time; work under stressful situations; operate a computer and other office equipment; move about the Company and interact with all levels of the Company. Additional physical requirements of this position include but are not limited to: Sitting at desk for more than one hour at a time, standing; keyboarding, bending, and lifting and carrying at least 10 pounds.

Closing Statement

Local 1483 - $34.63 per hour.
