JOB SUMMARY
Performs condition and performance monitoring and diagnostics on power generation units and/or assets utilizing software tools and data analysis methods. Technically involved in the resolution of generating unit asset condition and/or performance issues that may include, but not be limited to, data retrieval and analysis, performing field investigations or inspections, utilizing diagnostic methods to identify root causes, reviewing design data and specifications, and performing calculations to assess equipment condition and/or performance. Prepares and presents generating unit condition and/or performance reports.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
Complex responsibilities related to primary focus of job area. Uses best practices and in-depth business knowledge to solve complex problems and improve products or services. May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Identifies generation plant system or process inconsistencies and/or anomalies based on thorough analysis and problem solving.
• Recommends and advises changes and/or methods for the optimization of generation plant processes to meet business unit targets and goals.
• Monitors the execution of corrective activities and assesses the final results.
• Works in a team environment to improve generating unit reliability and performance.
• Understands and educates co-workers on how plant reliability and performance impact customers and business goals.
• Facilitates NERC Generating Availability Data Source (GADS) data reporting.
• Provides on-the-job training to new staff.
• Reviews and critiques proposed changes to engineering standards, policies and guidelines.
• Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices.
• Conducts surveys to gather field data.
• Prepares and interpret schematics, drawings, layouts and other visual aids.
• Prepares engineering analysis for plant performance-related projects.
• Assists upper level engineers as directed while developing specialized engineering skills.
• Supports company safety programs and initiatives by following all EHS and Operating procedures and adhering to established design standards.
• All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
(Engineer Staff)
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or PE, and 2 years related engineering experience (which may include non-Engineer experience such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Tech experience. This type of experience will be counted at half rate.)
(Engineer Senior)
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or PE, and 5 years related engineering experience (at least 3 years as an Engineer and a maximum of 2 years related experience which may include non-Engineer experience such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Tech experience. This type of experience will be counted at half rate.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICAITONS
• Five (5) years power or process plant engineering experience.
• Experience with NERC Generating Availability Data Source (GADS).
• Experience with plant historian platforms such as AVEVA Pi or EtaPRO, and SAP plant maintenance.
• Proficient in basic engineering tools with the ability to create simulations, build models and develop analytical calculations.
• Strong statistical process analysis skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• May require travel.
• May be required to work non-standard work schedules.
• May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
• May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.

SALARY RANGE
$77,688 - $125,216
