The Team Leader, Performance Engineering role is responsible for leading, managing and executing the operational performance engineering functions supporting the CE portfolio. We have over 450 sites and 4,500 MW of renewable assets in operation. This position will manage a team that currently includes 6 performance engineers and is growing rapidly.

Lead the Performance Engineering team:

Runs site/portfolio performance via regular verification and categorization of lost energy (equipment issues, performance issues, curtailment)

Develop tools and processes to further monitor fleet/equipment health and perform in-depth performance investigations

Monitor performance issues such as icing, soiling, and vegetation management

Collaborates with Field Services, Operations and Engineering teams to identify system, site or portfolio underperformance and recommend improvements

Meet regularly with regional maintenance leadership to establish priorities and discuss lingering issues

Performs or reviews capacity and performance ratio tests for projects in operation

Reviews production estimates and meteorological data sources for accuracy by comparing to operational data

Develops important metrics to ensure the operating portfolio is performing efficiently

Develops technical aspects of monthly reports, inclusive detailed variance analysis

Configures and validates performance alerts in DAS

This individual will support the engineering needs of the Operations & Maintenance organization by facilitating technical discussions and developing engineering solutions to operational needs. It will inform the broader CE organization on technical trends in site performance including regional challenges. Also, it will supplement the insights of equipment-level reliability with portfolio-level performance to provide a wholistic view of operational engineering challenges for prioritization and execution by the broader O&M organization.

The role will also identify and foster opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation. The role will lead the development of processes and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of operational workflows and touchpoints between the O&M and Engineering organizations. The role will lead discussions to “Close the loop” between Operations and Engineering by recording and communicating issues that can be mitigated through better design or equipment selection. The role will provide actionable insights on the operational performance of site designs to inform future projects.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or equivalent technical field

5 years of professional experience in Operations, Engineering or Project Management – PV solar and BESS experience strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of industry trends in production tools and processes

Proficiency with sophisticated analysis and database tools for development of metrics and dashboards

Ability to work optimally with Microsoft software programs, including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend equipment/facility schematics

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

High degree of dedication to a quality safety culture and an incident-free work environment

Willingness to travel within the U.S. to support company’s portfolio of PV solar/BESS assets

“Plus” Qualifications

PE qualifications, or on track to become qualified

Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or Business

Experience with PV and Battery Energy Storage System design and interconnection

Proficiency with PowerBI, machine learning, or advanced analysis tools

Professional experience in engineering with focus on measuring and maintaining system performance

Experience with Data Acquisition and SCADA systems

Spanish language skills

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $115.000 and $144.500/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
