About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company. [DBN]
This Nuclear Engineer provides technical expertise and advocacy for system maintenance and operation in Davis-Besse Nuclear Steam Supply Systems.
Developing and facilitating high-level solutions to complex system issues in support of plant operations and maintenance.
Managing diverse projects, processes and programs, and integrating broad strategic concepts.
Serving as an advanced technical resource and system expert in support of operating requirements.
Verifying station activities are properly addressed and performed.
Performing field walk-downs, conducting inspections of plant equipment and interfacing with other groups to resolve emergent and routine plant issues.
Trending system parameters and monitoring performance of assigned systems.
Establishing predictive and preventative maintenance (task and frequency) for assigned systems.
Reviewing schedules and work orders, and developing outage and routine maintenance activity lists.
Preparing technical reports and presentations.
Developing and completing investigations and corrective actions in accordance with the Corrective Action Program.
Working with engineering representatives from various manufacturers, vendors and industry groups to investigate and resolve system operating problems.
Providing support for interface with regulatory and oversight agencies.
Reviewing and analyzing plant operating characteristics and NRC and industry correspondence to identify operating experiences that may be appropriate to identify or resolve plant issues.
Championing design change improvements and interface.
Performing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned.
An employee hired at the Nuclear Engineer IV level will be expected to perform all of the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner. Further, the Nuclear Engineer IV level employee will be assigned additional responsibilities related to those listed above.
Qualifications for the Nuclear Engineer Level III:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school or a Professional Engineers License. (Advanced degree is a plus).
Minimum of 3 years' professional-level engineering experience in the nuclear industry or 5 years' related professional-level engineering experience in a non-nuclear industry required
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Demonstrate a questioning attitude to continue to learn, produce results and strengthen existing relationships.
Desire to continue to learn, grow and work across FirstEnergy and to deliver results.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with all employees at FirstEnergy.
Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make formal technical presentations to various management levels.
Must reside within site-specific ERO response time.
Qualifications at the Nuclear Engineer IV level include all of the above, plus:
- Minimum of 5 years professional-level engineering experience in the nuclear industry or 8 years of related professional-level engineering experience in a non-nuclear industry required
