National Grid Analyst, Gas Control Centre Operations in Northboro, Massachusetts

Job Purpose

The Gas Control Analyst works with the Gas Control Training, Compliance and Scheduling team to oversee and deliver all training requirements for the New England Gas Control Center Operations, as well as maintain and track all necessary compliance and statistical records to meet PHMSA Control Room Management and other regulations. The training and compliance analyst serves as a subject matter expert for all training and compliance needs of the Control Center, continuously improving internal processes. The position develops new Gas System Operators and prepares them to become fully qualified System Operators for the control center. The analyst also delivers continuing education of Gas System Operators of all experience levels, and evaluates their development.

Key Accountabilities

· Develop, design, deliver and evaluate all training materials for all Gas Control Center Operations.

· Provide technical guidance, support and coaching such as classroom, online, group meetings or job aid training to Gas System Operators.

· Develop and maintain an integrated training plan and schedule

· Develop and conduct training courses for Gas Control System Operators, including lesson plans, presentations and assessment questions

· Maintain auditable training files and data, including attendance records, training materials, and Control Room Management requirements.

· Generate and maintain regulatory compliance reports and analysis functions such as Alarm Management, Fatigue Management, MAOP compliance and other functions

· Support all Gas Control needs during audits

· Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within Gas Control


· Associate / Bachelor’s degree in Technical, Business, Engineering, or 5 plus years of Gas Control/Gas Operations experience

· Gas Control Operator/Gas Operations experience is a plus

· Knowledge of compliance, training, and development learning principles

· Team leadership skills

· Strong influencing and negotiating skills

· Strong PC and business applications knowledge to facilitate full leveraging of technology solutions in the Control Center work environment.

· Must have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office

· Excellent analytical skills

· Strong oral and written communications skills.

· Knowledge of National Grids business operations, company policies and practices

· Strong knowledge of Gas transmission and distribution systems

· Strong knowledge of Gas SCADA system

· Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakehilders.
