This opportunity coordinates Data Analytics activities with audit engagement teams across multiple concurrent engagements to plan, design and complete Data Analytics procedures to support audit engagements.

What you will do:

  • Perform Data Analytic procedures to support multiple, concurrent engagements. This includes the identification of opportunities to leverage analytics, taking action to acquire and analyze data and communicate results to the engagement team.

  • Provide guidance, coaching and training to the Internal Audit team on the effective use of Analytics, including assessing, designing, completing, validating, and documenting Data Analytics.

  • Develop milestones, schedule resources, perform QA reviews and track completion to ensure engagements and associated Data Analytics activity remains on schedule, while reporting or raising issues.

  • Complete detailed risk and control assessments of areas under audit consideration and establish the audit scope and objectives.

  • Obtain, analyze, and appraise evidential data as a basis for creating an informed, objective opinion on the adequacy and effectiveness of the processes being reviewed.

  • Find opportunities to support the continual improvement of the overall effectiveness and efficiency of Internal Audit using Data Analytics, additional tools/technologies or other innovative ideas.

  • Prepare or support the preparation of audit reports and communicate results to the appropriate parties, which may include executive and senior management.

  • Perform detailed level written review to ensure adequate documentation and conclusions are consistent with IIA standards.

  • Support the design, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures, and tools that support the use of Data Analytics as part of the Internal Audit methodology.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/MIS, Audit, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, and/or Business/Data Analytics designation.

  • Completion or near completion of a professional designation offered by IIA, ISACA, ACFE, PMI, or similar including, CIA, CISA, CFE, and/or PMP.

  • Seven (7) or more years of directly related experience in data analytics, internal/external audit, internal controls, IT, and/or risk management experience.

  • Understanding of global context/responsibilities of the audit function – understands audit methodology, audit procedures, audit sampling techniques, internal controls, risk management, IIA auditing standards, and data analytic techniques.

  • Extensive experience in working with databases/reporting, ETL (data extraction, transformation, loading), and with data analysis and visualization tools such as SQL, Microsoft Power BI, TeamMate Analytics, Alteryx, Azure Data Factory, Databricks or similar.

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements imposed by the SEC, PCAOB, CSA, etc.

  • Experience in the energy industry is preferred.
