Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists in performing routine preventive maintenance on wind turbine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems under supervision.

  • Demonstrates the ability to learn the aspects of defect detection and repair of the wind turbines.

  • Demonstrates the ability to learn the aspects of heavy equipment (crane) rigging and directing.

  • Completes required reports and other paperwork.

  • Maintains proper care of tools and vehicles.

  • Maintains adherence to Company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.

FUNDAMENTAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to understand and follow customary instructions in order to perform the essential functions of the position in a satisfactory manner.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to understand problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and report them to the appropriate supervisory personnel.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, given proper instructions.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Abililty to work in mechanically and electrically oriented situations.

  • No previous related experience required.

  • Basic knowledge of the use of various hand tools.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:Must maintain a valid State driver's license.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; particulate matter and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to pass a physical exam and drug/alcohol screening.

Must be able to climb and work atop freestanding wind turbine towers that may exceed 100 feet in height.

Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions
