Position Specific Description

Palms Insurance is a subsidiary of NextEra Energy, Inc., and manages both its Alien captive, Palms Cayman (which focuses on providing NextEra flexible and comprehensive insurance) and non-affiliate insurance entity Palms Specialty (a fast-growing specialty surplus lines insurer and reinsurer serving to further diversify NextEra’s overall insurance portfolio and contribute to overall profitability).

The State Regulatory Reporting Analyst will be responsible for the compilation and completion of data calls, state and regulatory filings related to data reporting, for all companies. Leveraging Excel, SQL and XMLs to report data to each state. Researching compliance issues and implementing procedures along with data quality checks to meet requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze state statutes and regulations to determine impact and ensure adherence to filing and regulatory requirement

• Review standard regulatory and industry bulletins to identify changes in state and insurance regulatory regulations which impact statutory statistical data requirements.

• Review ad-hoc data calls from the various states and map them to Palms’ deliverables

• Support the annual Producer Premium Reporting process by creating the CSV and XML files, validating for accuracy and submitting to the state

• Responsible for the preparation of responses to DOI queries from various sates

• Researches issues related to new and/or changing regulatory reporting requirements.

• Develops and maintain SQL scripts to extract data from the Data Warehouse

• Create various summaries and/or worksheets for monthly, quarterly and annual reports, and/or statements – Excel and XMLs

• Collaborates with Compliance to communicate orally and in writing with Company personnel, state regulatory agencies and reporting bureaus.

• Maintain manuals and documentation

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• At least two years of experience in P&C (Property & Casualty) Commercial lines data reporting for Surplus Lines

• Able to review instructions and understand data requirements, have general insurance coverage knowledge and how to extract specific data from the system

• Relevant knowledge of regulatory or procedural compliance issues, with ability to apply to operations.

• Ability to compile, organize, and review large amounts of data for accuracy

• Ability to work independently with detail and accuracy.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• Good time management skills to prioritize appropriately and meet deadlines.

• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends.

• Bachelor’s degree in math, accounting, statistics, risk management or related field.

• Associate in Insurance Data Analytics (AIDA) designation or insurance-related certifications are preferable but not required

Job Overview

This position is responsible for the compilation and completion of formal requests of information addition to state and regulatory filings for all Palms Insurance companies. The role will review and analyze state statutes/regulations to determine reporting requirements and utilize Excel, SQL, and XMLs to extract, organize and submit data to state government agencies. This position will also identify and resolve compliance gaps in addition to implementing data quality checks and associated procedures for sufficiency.
