Job Title: Transportation Compliance Specialist

Position Objective: The main job function is to ensure compliance with all NSC and Transportation requirements, across Canada. Provincial and Federal Requirements. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with a positive and proactive attitude.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day to day operations of Commercial Transportation compliance program with a primary focus on Canada

  • Interpret and provide subject matter expertise on Canadian Federal Commercial Motor Vehicle rules and requirements;

  • Manage the monitoring of driver logs and inspections, hours of service, electronic logging device systems, and preventative maintenance systems for compliance

  • Monitor and communicate regulatory changes

  • Responsible for managing driver’s files

  • Document the training and experience of the delegated employees relevant to internal auditing of hours of service records and retain the information on file

  • Hold management and drivers accountable for compliance

  • Applying for permits

  • Oversee IFTA return for each calendar quarter.

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated significant skills, 2+ years knowledge/experience in regulations

  • Working knowledge of Hours of service, pre-trip inspection, weights and dimensions and cargo securement

  • Familiarity with International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA)

  • Well versed with “safety laws” (Traffic Safety Act) and regulations made under the Act and the Dangerous Goods Transportation and Handling Act

  • Ability to prioritize workload

  • Experience is maintaining driver files and log books

  • Experience in providing commercial driver training

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record

  • Possess strong computer skills: Proficiency in MS Office including MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint
