Job Summary

Responsibility to oversee and ensure the safe operation of the plant under all conditions. Maintains full authority over all shift operations, maintenance activities, and implementation of radiological controls under normal and abnormal conditions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provides management oversight for all plant activities to ensure safe operation under all conditions. Fully integrated into the plant management team.

  • Removes unit from service in the event of an emergency and implements established emergency procedures.

  • Assumes the primary reporting role to the NRC for all plant conditions requiring special notification by federal codes 10CFR50.72 and 50.73.

  • Acts as the plant emergency director in the event of a radiological emergency required by federal code 10CFR50.47.

  • Makes prioritized decisions with the critical safety functions affecting the reactor core, potential adverse effects on plant operation and other work groups.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED

  • Four years power plant experience with a minimum of one year Nuclear power plant experience.

  • Must hold a nuclear SRO license.

  • Regulatory Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Four years responsible power plant experience of which a minimum of 1 year shall be nuclear power plant experience

  • A maximum of 2 years of the remaining 3 years of power plant experience may be fulfilled by academic or related technical training on a one-for-one time basis.

  • SRO Licensed

Other Qualifications

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.

  • Knowledge of regulator compliance and reporting.

  • Knowledge of electrical/mechanical equipment, measuring devices, power plant maintenance and precision tools/instruments.

  • Knowledge of blueprints/drawings/schematics and general plant and power plant operations.
