The successful candidate will assist in developing and proposing future electric system upgrades required to maintain system reliability for the short range and long range planning horizons. This position requires close interaction for coordination of future expansion plans with local Divisions. Work function includes power system simulation studies, determination of feasibility, scope and cost estimates for proposed network enhancements impacting the PSE&G electric system. Develop short-range and long-range substation forecasts and compare present or planned capacities with short range and long range forecasted loads.

The job function would include engineering analysis to evaluate the timing of reinforcements to ensure the reliability operation of the transmission and distribution system, performing complex power system engineering studies to determine the PSEG system limitations (thermal and voltage), operating capability and performing short range planning analysis and analyze potential operating limitations and develop operating procedures to guide the system operators. This candidate will also assist in the integration of renewable resources into the PSE&G electric system.

The job function would include engineering analysis related to Distributed Energy resources and data analysis related to the distribution circuits performance. The job function would include financial analysis related to the 5 year capital budget and preparing several presentations related to other stakeholders.

Required Education/Skills: The successful candidate (s) must be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s from an accredited institution in the Engineering (with an Energy Focus) or Economics/Finance fields, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. GPA information MUST be included on your resume for employment consideration. Candidates must have excellent oral and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail. All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the summer period for the full 10-12 week period. We are targeting: Currently enrolled students with GPA of 3.0 staying in the NJ/NY/PA metro area for the duration of the internship and able to commute to the assigned work location. Housing, transportation, Immigration Support will not be provided with this position.

As an employee of PSE&G or PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations.
