This position is a direct report to the Manager Network Operations and Data Center Services. This is a multi-level position with level placement dependent upon the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

Manage the day-to-day production support activities associated with production control and coordination for infrastructure technical and business processes for PSEG lines of business. This includes maintenance and availability of all IT infrastructure components relevant to their respective areas, overseeing problem management, performing root cause analysis and corrective action plans, providing vendor management and oversight, as well as administering and reporting on vendor and client SLAs. Act as the interface between PSEG internal lines of business, internal IT staff and vendors in the day-to-day production support of all Infrastructure components.

The production management organizational structure in which this position operates requires strong facilitation skills to sustain the teamwork, coordination and communication required among associates from multiple infrastructure technologies including Helpdesk, End user computing, Midrange technologies, Network technologies and Applications. IT Production Acceptance requires delivering and maintaining high quality services. Strong human resource skills are required to develop and maintain the required teamwork and cross-organization relationships to deliver quality IT Infrastructure Production services and support.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage network staff of employees and vendors that are geographically dispersed

  • Work with infrastructure and application project teams to ensure solutions are aligned with acceptable support requirements

  • Monitor production system performance, availability and support costs, and report status related to plan to ensure client expectations are met.

  • Ensure Quality Control and Assurance procedures are consistent with Infrastructure specifications, client requirements and corporate policies.

  • Manage the Disaster Recovery (DR) Process

  • Work with various SMEs and suppliers to perform reviews and/or Root Cause Analysis

  • Implement the preventive maintenance programs for Infrastructure systems including patching, upgrades, tuning and performance management.

  • Lead technical staff and vendors and consultants to identify and resolve complex issues

  • Coordinate and run planned outages for systems in area of accountability with application support teams.

  • Manage and communicate problem resolution and system restoration status during unplanned outage events to LOB and IT Senior Management.

  • After hours callout is required in the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this position.

  • Vendor management & governance

  • Identify continues improvement areas and come up with new initiatives to enhance infrastructure support. Required Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 6 or more years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum of 2 years in an Network Operations Leadership support Role and for an IT Infrastructure Production Manager.

  • For the Sr IT Infrastructure Production Manager, a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 6 or more years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum of 3 years in an Network Operations Leadership support Role.

  • Without a Bachelor’s degree, at least 10 years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum 4 years in infrastructure support.

  • Excellent communication and consultative skills, and the ability to work effectively with client and IT management and staff.

  • Customer service experience

  • Strong understanding of ITSM (ITIL) and overall understanding of Infrastructure components.

  • Demonstrated experience in vendor management in the day-to-day activities related to supporting critical systems.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.

  • Proven Automation implementation and experience

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with peers, clients and vendors.

  • Participate with vendors and common carriers during problem analysis/resolution as required.

  • Understanding of general IT standards, policies, best practices, guidelines, processes.

  • Strong communications, consultative and interpersonal skills, including oral, written and presentation; teamwork, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation, with the ability to work effectively with internal clients from various business organizations and lines of business, and IT management and staff.

  • Identify and lead team to resolve complex network problems

  • Excellent knowledge of network hardware and software; switching and routing configuration and troubleshooting; firewall configuration and protocols; infrastructure and design, topologies and protocols.

  • Participate in the evaluation of vendor proposals and the benefits of changes in the network environment

  • Experience troubleshooting network communications issues with vendors and carriers.

  • Prepare and maintain standard operating procedures for the network

  • Experience with monitoring and management tools and platforms

  • Experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC)

  • Extensive knowledge of Ethernet and fiber cabling standards

  • Extensive routing experience (inclusive of, but not limited to, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, QoS)

  • Extensive experience supporting various Cisco router and switch hardware and software platforms

  • Extensive experience supporting Nexus platforms

  • Extensive experience supporting Cisco ASA firewalls

  • Experience with WAN optimization tools

  • Experience with Cisco wireless infrastructure; experience with Cisco ACE

  • Excellent knowledge of Top of Rack, TACACS, RADIUS; TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, MPLS, Fiber, 4G, VLANs, VPC; VPN, DMVPN, SDWAN, Virtualization

  • Ability to work in a 24 X 7 environment with callout availability required

  • Perform related duties as assigned or requested. Desired Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:

  • Advanced degree in Information Systems or Masters of Business Administration.

  • Extensive knowledge and Certification in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) training.

  • Experience supporting applications related to Utility power plants monitoring and maintenance

  • Experience with NERC-CIP or other regulatory compliance

  • Computer or network related certifications (i.e. CISCO CCNA, CCDA, CCENT)

  • Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure and IaaS

  • Experience with Barracuda & Fortinet firewalls

  • Experience with network security configurations

  • Experience managing a financial budget
