PSEG Associate Counsel - Regulatory in Newark, New Jersey

Job Summary

This position reports to PSEG’s Deputy General Counsel and RTO Strategy Officer and is a member of the Company’s law department.

Job Responsibilities

The Associate Counsel – Federal Regulatory advises and represents the PSEG Companies before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and in related appellate proceedings and provides day-to-day advice on federal regulatory matters, including transmission rates, transmission policy/planning, and interconnection issues. The position also provides legal support on PJM Tariff issues and in ongoing PJM Transmission Owner working groups.

Job Specific Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school in the United States

  • Admitted to the bar in at least one state or the District of Columbia

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience working on regulatory matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

Required Competencies:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent drafting skills

  • Legal analytical ability

  • Professionalism, integrity, and excellent customer/client focus

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as a member of a diverse team, both with respect to internal and external teams

  • Candidate must foster an inclusive work environment and respect all aspects of diversity

Desired Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Experience in proceedings at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

  • Experience with in-house corporate law department, law firm, FERC or an RTO/ISO

  • Significant experience with FERC transmission rates, transmission planning, and/or interconnection issues

  • Experience with RTO/ISO Tariffs and rules
