Advise and represent PSEG Companies in all matters regulated by federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations. Provide advice with respect to environmental compliance, licensing, permitting, site remediation and environmental cleanup cost recovery litigation issues, and due diligence. Assess risks and recommend solutions and alternatives.
The position will not have direct management responsibilities over any other employees, but will be expected to be able to lead teams on projects as needed, including supervising the work of outside counsel and experts and internal paralegals.
Monitor and advise with respect to proposed law and regulations impacting operations
Advise with respect to regulatory compliance
Represent the PSEG entities before courts and regulatory/administrative bodies
Provide transactional support/drafting/editing contracts
Address site remediation issues
Provide subject matter expertise and recommendations on public relations and local political issues
Required Qualifications, Competencies, Education or Experience:
Undergraduate degree and Juris Doctorate
Must be licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey
Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental law
Knowledge of environmental legal practice area
Knowledge of energy industry, business, compliance, and regulatory matters
Must foster an inclusive work environment and respect all aspects of diversity

Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Strong negotiation and advocacy skills;

Strong academic background;

Desired Qualifications, Competencies, Education or Experience:
Prior representation of clients in the energy production or utility sectors
Experience with matters arising under the Clean Water and Clean Air Acts and with site remediation and environmental cost recovery issues
Knowledge of energy industry, business, compliance and regulatory matters
Strong academic background. Experience with federal and state environmental regulatory authorities
Ability to foster an inclusive work environment and respect all aspects of diversity. Customer/client focused
10 years of experience in environmental law; Knowledge of environmental legal practice area
Strong negotiation and advocacy skills. Ability to work independently and possess exceptional planning and organizational skills
As an employee of PSE&G or PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations.
