Exelon Principal IT Project Manager in Newark, Delaware
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Plan and manage resources, finances, scope and services for the delivery of the technical requirements of the oneMDS project. This includes but is not limited to all hardware/software procurement and configuration, environment set up and management, performance testing, disaster recovery/high availability planning/set up/ testing, all security requirements, and code migrations. Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with the oneMDS Business Partners, Delivery PM, System Integrator, Product Vendors, C&I, Enterprise Architects, EU Architects, CISS, IT support organizations, and other areas and departments, such Supply, to ensure successful delivery of the oneMDS project. Ensure operational readiness of developed solution and its hosting infrastructure. Participate in developing and implementing technical strategy/policy for the oneMDS project.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Lead and manage IT staff and resources in accordance with oneMDS project plan. Plan and manage scope, schedule, and budget for defined deliverables in accordance with IT project management standards. Develop technical project requirements, solution architecture, budgets and schedules, facilitate requirements meeting. Establish milestones, anticipate issues and monitor adherence to project scope, requirements and design document, schedules, and Exelon IT standards. Provide project governance by collaborating with solution, functional architects and PMO. Manage service introduction for successful transition into operations support. Maintain project documentation.
Lead and manage IT projects and associated system integrators to deliver technical aspects of the oneMDS project. Lead and collaborate with project SMEs, enterprise areas (e.g. C&I, Middleware, DBA, Security), SI and product vendors, and application support managers to develop and manage the integration plans across various environments to address project scope (e.g. integration testing, performance testing). Lead external compliance requests such as security vulnerability testing and audit requirements/evidence.Ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget and that all deliverables are of the highest quality.
Operate utilizing standard processes as defined within the Management Model. Oversee process improvement efforts and ensure adoption of standard processes and procedures that deliver sustainable top quartile cost and performance levels.
Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with business and IT partners. Communicate status to key stakeholders on a regular basis, escalate issues and risks as appropriate
Maintain current business knowledge/acumen, including application of technology solutions to deliver business results. Build and maintain knowledge of project related industry standards and IT trends.
Evaluate performance and provide coaching for IT personnel. Participate in career development and succession planning processes. Promote diversity and foster teamwork, collaboration, and a learning organization. Provide input on development and retention processes for IT employees.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and at least 8 years experience in area of technical specialty; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Appropriate technical skills.
PMP certification required within 2 years
Strong knowledge of business practices and processes in area of specialty
Experience leading and managing IT projects or sub-teams and knowledge of IT project management.
Experience leading and managing technical personnel.
Strong judgment and excellent analytical ability.
Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of IT and business management and with vendors.
Project Management certification other than as may be required by job focus.
