Job Description

Core Responsibilities
The Sr. System Analyst is responsible for support, maintenance, architecture and development of the IT application portfolio supporting Electric Operations. This individual will be responsible for coding, configuration, and testing, related to application maintenance. This individual will manage technical aspects of assigned projects, including planning and resolving issues. This individual will also work independently to convert business requirements to Technical Design Specifications, and design/develop code for enterprise-wide and other projects.
Maintain the technologies that are used to support Con Edison's Electric Operations organization. Support responsibilities involve software configurations, as well as customizations to enable integrations with critical systems at Con Edison.
Requirements collection, design and implementation of new systems and/or improvements to existing systems, both in-house built and vendor packaged applications.
Manages technical development of software application from inception through user acceptance, including projects which affect multiple departments. Designs steps and modules, defines timelines, identifies and resolves issues. May assign work and provide oversight to others. May serve as technical lead and make decisions regarding technical direction.
Present options and manages business/client expectations.
Utilizes design skills to define Technical Design Specifications for complex and high impact projects.
Creates logic flow charts and process diagrams.
Creates and/or modifies code to meet specifications. Tests and debugs work.
Supports production software operations during normal business and off-hours.
Contributes to team discussions.
Troubleshoots and resolves client issues. May be responsible for client support to an entire business unit.
Researches external software solutions.
Plan and participate in disaster recovery drills
Work in a collaborative environment, interfacing and developing relationships with groups from all areas of the company - business representatives, IT supporting teams, as well as vendor/contractor team members - in order to perform thorough requirements analyses and deliver solutions that benefit the entire organization.
Maintain knowledge of new technologies, programming languages, business applications and products, and furnish expertise where appropriate.
Provide 24x7 ''On Call'' support, 7 days a week. Available to work off hours as operationally required. May need to work in other company locations, as required.
Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Math, or applicable degree and three (3) years relevant experience or
Associate's Degree with relevant technical certifications and four (4) years work experience in relevant field
Preferred Education/Experience
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Business, a plus
Relevant Work Experience
3+ years of experience with at least 3 of the following technologies: Structured Query Language (SQL), such as Oracle PL/SQL or Microsoft T-SQL Object-oriented programming, such as Microsoft .NET (VB , C#) or Java
IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) IBM WebSphere Message Queue (MQ) Oracle WebLogic, Shell Scripting, Microsoft Windows Server management, Microsoft Windows Desktop management Preferred
Distribution Control Center Experience Preferred
Strong skills and experience with the MS Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project required.
Experience supporting production systems on a 24x7 basis
Experience with disaster recover solutions and drills
Must have working knowledge of various software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, etc.)
Must have ability to learn new technology as required for the job using documentation and other available resources
Experience supporting vendor ERP work management systems is a plus
Experience working in a large-scale organization is a plus
Specific technical knowledge to be specified at the time of posting.
