Job Description

Mission Statement

Core Responsibilities

  • Monitor activities of the natural gas markets and maintain awareness and knowledge of changes or developments.

  • Analyze third party contracts and Buyback service contracts and process the respective billing.

  • Perform DISPO (disposition) of the weighted average cost of the gas by member class by day.

  • Perform Billing Reconciliation/True-up at the end of the month to analyze actual payments against month-end accrual.

  • Perform Pipeline Reconciliation to account for capacity releases on the transportation invoices against IGS (integrated Gas Supply) system report.

  • Interact with the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland (PJM) ISO, or New England ISO markets to conduct billing analysis and verifications.

  • Perform the required collection and analysis of operational, tariff, and contract data to efficiently calculate and verify all invoicing that arises from activities that the Gas Supply Department initiates in the natural gas markets and that Electricity Supply initiates in the NYISO & PJM administered markets.

  • Ensure that all billing is processed accurately and timely and billing disputes are resolved with appropriate management intervention.

  • Collect, maintain, and interpret data necessary for in depth analysis of market interactions, bill processing and accounting activities that arise from Departmental responsibilities.

  • Prepare gas and electric business accruals and assist in true-up to report accrual month-to-month variances.

  • Initiate, develop, and prepare various analytical reports for Management on a regular and ad-hoc basis.

  • Develop monthly, quarterly and annual commodity reports as needed. Assist in preparing expert testimony and supporting documentation for regulatory proceedings.

  • Assist in preparing spreadsheets, presentations, reports, and exhibits as required for Section and/or Departmental needs.

  • Assist in organizing and maintaining full and complete records for auditing and SOX regulation purposes.

  • Attend internal/external meetings as required.

  • Respond to various miscellaneous ad-hoc data requests.

  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Management, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent is required.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Management, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent is required for Senior Analyst (2L).

Required Work Experience

  • 3-5 years Sr. Analyst (2L) - Three to five years of utility or related energy industry experience required. Req

  • 2 years Analyst (1H) - Minimum of two years of utility or related energy industry experience required, or a recent GOLD Associate graduate.

  • Work experience should include at least two of the following items, or a recent GOLD Associate graduate:

  • Energy Policy and Regulatory matters

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and have the ability to effectively interact with external counterparts, internal support staff, and various levels of management.

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.

  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, and out of town business meetings, as needed.

  • Must be available to work additional hours as required, beyond normal business hours.
