Primary Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the development cycle through the various stages and processes from origination through project closeout into Asset Management

  • Provide both leadership and mentorship to the Project Development team which numbers 6 to 10 professionals in size

  • Develop, manage, and refine the feasibility and due diligence process for developed and acquired photovoltaic (PV) projects throughout the US

  • Conduct due diligence on potential solar sites, evaluate the project suitability and participate in due diligence review and analysis of various project materials (site lease, PPA, energy production reports, engineering drawings, environmental, geo-tech, etc.)

  • Manage internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) with strict adherence to schedule, budget, accuracy, and validity

  • Manage multiple project development efforts and portfolios simultaneously

  • Coordinate transaction structure and risk identification/ allocation with Legal and Risk

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with regulators, incentive agencies, utilities and Authorities having Jurisdiction (AHJs) for ongoing client support

  • Direct federal and state PV incentive programs including ownership of the incentive application process & tracking

  • Oversee the preparation of meeting agendas and reports for clients

  • Oversee the permitting process and expediting processes

  • Supervise energy analysis & interconnection

  • Identify and lead the support of key project deadlines and milestones

Position Summary:

As the leader of the Project Development team, the Executive Director, Project Development will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and oversee all of the development activities associated with Company projects. He or she will drive the project development lifecycle from origination to completion for various properties and client types, directing the gathering of information from multiple sources and ensuring that all stakeholders remain updated and aligned. This is a hands-on position which will require a high attention to detail, superior communication skills, and the ability to work within a cross-functional team of professionals. The ability to work both independently and provide team leadership and mentorship are critical, as well as the desire and innovative mind set to operate as an important contributor within a fast-pace, early-stage company environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be passionate about the renewable energy business, hardworking and thrive in the fast pace of a rapidly growing, early-stage company. In addition, the Executive Director, Project Development must possess:

  • 10+ years related experience with a developer / IPP, utility company, regulatory agency or project finance firm specializing in power/energy/utilities

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

  • Proven ability to solve problems and develop value-added solutions quickly and accurately

  • Track-record of leading teams to support energy, infrastructure, or real estate projects

  • Proven managerial skills

  • Outstanding organizational and people skills

  • Understanding of engineering and renewable energy systems

  • Understanding of project and structured finance
