Core Responsibilities
The prime function of the Project Specialist (Sr Energy Advisor) is to support the business development managers in bringing in energy efficiency projects needed to achieve annual targets for the department. This individual will participate in customer meetings, perform site assessments to help customers identify other energy efficiency and demand management opportunities, quantify potential savings and effectively communicate these opportunities to our customers. This individual will need to maintain good relations with all customers (internal and external) and keep up with industry trends in building technologies and local laws.
Attend customer meetings with Business Development Managers to better understand customer needs and provide solutions using Con Edison programs.
Conduct site energy assessments that identify energy efficiency opportunities that may involve all major building equipment.
Quantify potential savings and incentives for complex upgrades using best engineering practices and/or NY TRM.
Develop written reports and presentations for customers that communicate the value of identified opportunities and how Con Edison programs can be leveraged.
Required to keep up with industry standards in building equipment, technologies, local laws and best operational practices (i.e. ASHRAE, Building Codes, etc.).
Required to understand the industry and business of the customer, the issues customers deal with and how energy relates to their business.
Position involves extensive walking.
Perform other related tasks and assignments as needed.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Architecture or Technology felds, Economics/Finance or related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
Master's Degree in engineering and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
2 years Experience in energy efficiency and demand management technologies Required
Strong technical writing abilities and oral communication skills Required
Strong customer service capability Required
A team player with a positive and collaborative attitude Required
Strong organizational and project management skills Required
Ability to work well under pressure in time-critical situations Required
Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite. Required
2 years Experience in operations of core building equipment Preferred
Less than 2 years Experience in conducting ASHRAE level 2 energy audits Preferred
2 years Experience in energy modelling software Preferred
Experience in building construction and NY building codes Preferred
Experience in Utility energy efficiency and demand management programs Preferred
Skills & Ability
Develops and delivers effective presentations
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.

Driver's License Required
Professional Engineer (PE) Preferred
Project Management Professional (PMP) Preferred
Other: Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Preferred
Other: Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) Preferred
Other Physical Demands
Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
