Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact between Con Edison's IT organization and its business stakeholders, acting as an advocate on behalf of the business unit to ensure IT services meet their business priorities and needs.

  • Facilitates a two-way flow of information to ensure IT understands both strategic and tactical business needs and the business is aware of technology solutions that can improve business efficiency and market competitiveness.

  • Catalyst for new IT demand, surfaces and shapes business demand for IT and ensures that the company recognizes, captures, and optimizes the potential business value from that demand.

  • Provides oversight of all IT services delivered from IT groups including IT projects to the business units ensuring that agreed targets are met, budgets are managed and customer satisfaction is achieved.

  • Works with business leaders to strengthen IT's role as strategic differentiator by evolving culture and organizational behavior.

  • Develops strategic relationships with business stakeholders, maintaining a strong understanding of the industry and associated business strategies and ensures they are offered products and services aligned to these strategies.

  • Manages both strategic demand planning and tactical demand prioritization.

  • Ensures funding sources are established for all work coming into the IT organization they are representing.

  • Works with other BRM organizations and IT support groups to identify common demand across business units and develops common / shared IT solutions.

  • Develops high quality project business cases, investment summaries, detailed investment proposals and other deliverables, as required.

  • Provides direction on all issues requiring coordination with internal IT groups and other organizations, including vendors to ensure that issues are addressed. Directs team members as required for resolution.

  • Makes use of a range of consultancy techniques, methods, and processes as appropriate to ensure optimal outcomes.

  • Analyzes complex business and IT environments to identify innovative, appropriate, and cost-effective solutions.

  • Participates on project boards, steering committees, and governance groups as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of related full time work experience or

  • Master's Degree and a minimum of six (6) years of related full time work experience

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree

Relevant Work Experience

  • Leadership or managerial experience Required

  • Experience in business/IT consulting/management roles Required

  • Strong understanding of the utility business and company strategy Required

  • Successful track record in working across multiple business segments inclusive of working within budgets Required

  • Ability to easily engage stakeholders and maintain open communications Required

  • Ability to interact with senior leadership, external stakeholders and communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience. Required

  • Ability to direct multiple assignments with changing priorities while meeting deadlines. Required

  • Ability to establish medium and long-term plans, priorities, and estimate. Required

  • Experience in leading projects Preferred

  • Appropriate accreditation (e.g. ITIL, PMP) Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Training and/or certification in Project Management is a plus. Preferred

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.

  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
