Key Responsibilities

  • Champions a corporate culture that emphasizes transparency, integrity, safety, environmental responsibility, employee development, diversity and inclusion, customer service, and operational excellence.

  • Diagnoses complex Electrical and Instrumentation problems, ability to read electrical drawing involved with the operation of a Power Plant. Recommends, directs and performs corrective action to maximize plant reliability and performance.

  • Performs preventative maintenance, inspections, overhauls and upgrades on Electrical and Instrumentation related equipment to avoid unscheduled downtime.

  • Use of the SAP system to provide, evaluate and maintain concise maintenance and equipment records to achieve an accurate historical account for future references.

  • Achieves results by autonomously owning and executing electrical and instrumentation activities as defined by supervisor.

  • Supports agile projects through application of defined electrical and instrumentation approaches.

  • Utilizes electrical and instrumentation knowledge, standards, procedures, and processes to provide recommendations for process improvements, as necessary.

  • Supports the escalation of any risk related to power plant electrical equipment and instrumentation, to help ensure business objectives are executed and met across responsible project areas.

  • Escalate issues to supervisor, as necessary.

  • Assist entry-level staff within assigned project teams, leveraging technical experience to help to onboard them and in support of meeting project milestones.

  • Provide communication to their supervisor to provide status updates on project activities, and identify risks in delivery or resourcing needs.

  • Support senior project staff to provide their supervisor with technical project updates to Director level management on a regular basis to proactively support business objectives.

  • Be proactive in individual development, including training and performance plan development.

  • Scope of work is clearly articulated and project based, may support multiple projects to enhance their discipline’s agile approach.

  • Responsible for operating as the experienced technical staff within the power plant to execute job duties in accordance with established plans and supervisor guidance.

  • Uses prescribes guidelines or policies to analyze and resolves problems, solves problems in straightforward situations, analyzes possible solutions using technical experience, judgments and precedents.

Qualifications

Required Education, Skills & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with related technical training or apprenticeship

  • 5-7+ years of related experience

  • Strong knowledge of leading practices for their practice area

  • Strong planning and project management skills

  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex results to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment, present ideas and opinions in a respective and collegial manner

  • Progression to this level is strictly restricted based on critical individual capabilities and business requirements.

Cleco Power

Cleco Power is a regulated electric public utility that owns 10 generating units with a rated capacity of 3,360 megawatts, 1,335 miles of transmission lines and 12,152 miles of distribution lines. Cleco Power uses multiple generating sources and multiple fuels to serve approximately 290,000 customers in 24 of Louisiana's parishes through its retail business and supplies wholesale power in Louisiana and Mississippi.
