JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Interface with Regulatory Affairs, FERC Filings teams, and FERC attorneys to ensure that the tax expense and deferred tax accounts utilized in all rate filings are accurate. Defend our proposed regulatory treatment of all tax items. Primary focus will be related to FERC jurisidictional activities and appropriate support

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review all rate and regulatory filings to ensure accuracy and proper presentation of all income taxes - current expense, deferred expense, accumulated deferred income taxes, and excess and deficient income taxes. Primary support and review towards all FERC related matters.

  • Ensure that all rate and regulatory filings are in compliance with Internal Revenue Code normalization requirements.

  • Provide guidance to Regulatory Income Tax Team for ratemaking pro-forma adjustments.

  • Analyze changes in tax law, regulations, tax accounting methods and company tax positions for potential impact on rate and regulatory filings.

  • Interface with Regulatory Affairs to ensure consistency between tax positions and regulatory strategy.

  • Provide support with Tax Counsel in determining taxability of Contributions in Aid of Construction (CIAC) matters.

  • Complete and review responses to discovery requests for information.

  • Prepare and file written and oral testimony to support regulatory positions related to income taxes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience. Master's Degree preferred.

Minimum experience required of the position.

  • Tax Advisor: 15 years of experience in tax or a regulated utility environment

  • Tax Specialist, Sr. Staff: 8 years of experience in tax or a regulated utility environment

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position.

  • Extensive experience in tax and cost based rate regulated accounting.

  • Knowledge as it relates to FERC compliance, fillings and administrative issues.

Any certificates, licenses, etc., required for the position.

  • CPA or JD preferred
