JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Supervise a team of 14 Entergy resources responsible for Gas construction activities for the New Orleans Gas Department. Coordinate and oversee as many as 5 Gas contract construction crews in the city of N.O. Work with other supervisors in New Orleans to ensure efficient and effective utilization of resources and a smooth handoff of daily routine and emergency work.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Instill, motivate and promote Safe Work practices and procedures for all Entergy and Contract resources. Monitor all work to ensure public safety is considered.
Ensure compliance with all applicable DOT Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration/Office of Pipeline Safety Regulations by effectively managing all aspects of gas related Construction work and maintenance of all required documentation. Identify opportunities to improve our ability to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations.
Construction activities include but are definitely not limited to the construction of designed gas distribution system, working with steel and high-density polyethylene material. Abandonment of old gas facilities (i.e. cast iron) and installation of new gas services. Installation and abandonment of the Gas facilities are accomplished by means of excavation equipment, directional boring equipment and specialty tools. Work closely with the Maintenance supervisor to assist when needed.
Develop and execute performance and productivity metrics for the workgroup. Direct the work of team members by providing ongoing operational guidance, performance feedback, coaching, and counseling. Establish training and developmental plans for team; review results of completed plans. Manage/Monitor Contractors to ensure productivity, quality and cost metrics are met.
Manage/ Monitor O&M and Capital Spending to ensure budget targets are achieved. Effectively manage the business by monitoring, analyzing, and making sound financial decisions and uses data analysis and feedback to identify and achieve improvement.
Achieve operational and customer service excellence by setting and communicating aggressive performance expectations, implementing process improvements, and measuring/monitoring performance levels. Identify opportunities to standardize and proceduralize work practices and incorporate new technologies.
Ensure compliance with all applicable New Orleans Gas Maintenance Operator Qualification requirements which includes computer based courses and exams, field evaluations, and associated documentation.
Participate with New Orleans Gas Storm Response to ensure compliance with the Entergy Gas Distribution Business Emergency Operations Plan.

Represent Entergy on various industry working groups at the state, regional, and national levels. Develop and maintain relationships with peer utilities through engagement in industry forums to gain insight into best practices and new technologies. Utilize knowledge gained to improve efficiency and reliability of the gas distribution system.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
Desired: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum experience required of the position
Minimum 5 years supervisory experience or comparable leadership experience.
Desired: 10 years natural gas construction and maintenance experience.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Possess and demonstrate strong leadership qualities including an ability to set clear expectations, hold people accountable, communicate effectively, lead by example, reward and recognize successes and create an environment of motivated team members focused on achieving? excellence in all aspects of the gas business. Ability and willingness to serve on the Gas Storm Team as requested. Ability and willingness to participate in Duty Rotation for Gas Emergencies. Demonstrated effective leadership skills in previous role(s), including safety leadership, planning & organizing, motivation, change management, and effective HR management. Desired: Knowledge / Experience of Gas Distribution Business. Knowledge / Experience of natural gas pipeline operation including underground construction and maintenance. Knowledge of Federal and State Regulations - OPS/DOT Regulations /OSHA. Knowledge of Company written Gas Standards and Procedures. Knowledge / experience with Restoration activities difficult conditions.
