JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Entergy Power Through is an energy resilience service that offers sustainable backup generation solutions to commercial and industrial customers at a discounted rate. The discount is created by offering generator power to the grid during peak demand times. We partner with external Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partners, manufacturers, and internal teams to create a unique offering for our customers.

The Senior Manager of Projects and Technical Services will ensure that the Power Through Operations team meets the company’s strategic objectives by ensuring exceptional customer experience for product development, implementation, operation and maintenance to support profitable growth. This leader is responsible development and the implementation of design, installation, operations, maintenance processes, and procedures for customer site generator solutions while continuously improving with an eye to cost and the customer experience. This leader is responsible for developing and growing project management, engineering design, construction, asset management, corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance strategies ensuring Entergy Power Through generators are interconnected and operated efficiently in all five Operating Companies from its first year of operation onward to reach acquisition and installation targets under the leadership of the Director of Business operations. This leader will provide direction to the Project Management and Engineering Leads to ensuring strong internal and external customer satisfaction in the product, design, field implementation, interconnection to the electric grid, asset management, operations, maintenance, and service throughout the life of customer site generators.

This individual will succeed in this role by ensuring the product launches successfully in the MISO (Mid-Continent Independent System Operator) market by working with members of Entergy’s System Planning and Operations (SPO) team, Energy Management Office (EMO), Entergy Operating Companies (OpCos), Grid Modernization, Enterprise Planning and MISO’s staff. Further, this individual will ensure Power Through engineering, project management, construction, interconnection, operations and maintenance meet strategic objectives through external and internal partnerships with external Electrical Engineering Firms, Electrical Contractors, General Contractors, EPCs, Generator Manufacturers, Generator Distributors, End Use Customers, and internal Entergy Customer Service, Engineering, Regulatory, Distribution, System Planning and Operations, Legal, and Supply Chain teams by utilizing previous technical knowledge and experience to grow the Power Through Business Operations. This individual will work closely with the OpCos Executives, Grid Regulatory Services, Legal and Operations teams to ensure favorable regulatory and customer centric outcomes to support profitable growth, create new market demand and operate generators cost effectively for all Entergy customers. This leader will be responsible for the operations and leadership of internal leaders, employees, and cross functional teams across the enterprise to achieve business results. This will individual will work collaboratively with the Senior Manager of Business Operations to support sales, marketing, operations, and implementation to meet overall Power Through Business Operations objectives.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES

The Senior Manager of Project and Technical Services will ensure and lead the development of project management, construction management, asset management, work management, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, GIS mapping, grid interconnection, supervisory control, monitoring and data acquisition processes related to the overall customer and product lifecycle for Power Through generators, including (but not limited to):

  • Development of processes and solutions to ensure a seamless customer experience as it relates to the engineering, design, procurement, construction, interconnection to the electric grid, operations and asset management, maintenance and financial and budget management of the Power Through product in all of Entergy’s operating companies

  • In partnership with Engineering Procurement and Construction, Equipment Manufacturers and Distributors teams, lead the development and implementation of Entergy engineering, procurement, and construction to ensure the delivery of customer sited generation services safely, with quality, on-time and at the lowest possible cost.

  • In partnership with Entergy System Planning and Operations (SPO) team, Energy Management Office (EMO), Entergy Operating Companies (OpCos), Grid Modernization, Enterprise Planning, Distribution and Transmission Engineering and Operations teams, lead the development, integration and implementation of Power Through Customer Site Generators into GIS mapping, grid interconnection, supervisory control, monitoring and data acquisition processes and systems to ensure the effective operation of customer sited generation safely to maximize operations and grid value.

  • In partnership with Engineering Procurement and Construction, Equipment Manufacturers and Distributors teams, lead the development and implementation of Entergy Power Through Asset Management, Corrective, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance strategies, processes, procedures and systems to ensure the Power Through assets provided customer service and operations throughout the life of generator assets.

  • Actively developing solutions, operate and maintain the assets to maximize the value share and cost share balance of the business model to account for variables like generator cost, switch configurations, installation costs, heat rates, load factors, market parameters, capacity and energy planning analyses to define the value of the Power Through product to Entergy customers.

  • In partnership with Supply Chain and Power Through Business Operations, identify, evaluate, establish and manage strategic business alliances and contractual relationships with generator manufacturers, local installers, and asset managers in order to ensure safety and reliability for customers while providing a rewarding, engaging and diverse work environment and creating value for the communities in which we serve.

  • In partnership with Power Through Business Operations, Legal and Regulatory Services teams, support managing regulatory engagement and development of documentation and testimony necessary for the launch, scaling, and maximization of value for the Power Through product in all of Entergy’s operating companies

This is a highly visible role that will require a strong mix of business acumen, technical skills, and leadership capabilities to be successful. This leader must be creative, inquisitive, willing to challenge the status quo, and most importantly thoughtful. The Senior Manager of Project and Technical Services will act as a leader of projects, engineering, business process, financial responsibility, vendor relationships, and customer centricity.

Delivers Power Through generators safely, with quality, and at the lowest possible cost. Responsible for ensuring end to-end commercial operation to meet the business objectives of the model and financial forecast (sales, registration, account set-up, design, installation, maintenance, settlement, billing, contract management, and operations). Works to retain existing customer base and attract new customers, and efficiently and effectively resolves customer complaints. Provides best-in-class storm response performance and identifies, develops, and implements strategy on key regulatory issues that drive pricing or other product or service-related matters. Drives continuous improvement and innovation for the product, processes, operational solutions, valuation, and regulatory engagement. Establishes Key Performance Indicators for operational data around value determination and realization, safety, reliability, and cost and budget management. The key metrics, financial targets and other objectives of success used to measure the performance of the job are:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related field or equivalent experience Preferred: MBA, or advanced degree in Energy/Power Generation.

Minimum experience required of the position:

  • 8 years of progressive experience in operations, engineering, construction, project management or product management with specific experience in utility operations or related field.

  • At least five years’ experience leading and developing people in a project management, construction management or engineering with proven track record delivering real business impact.

  • Previous experience developing and improving processes and specifications used in design, construction, operation and maintenance of electrical utility assets.

  • Cross-functional leadership experience preferred.

Preferred experience for the position:

10 years of progressive experience in operations, engineering, regulatory services, technical sales, financial services, project management or product management with specific experience in utility operations or related field with:

  • Experience working in a regulated utility supporting development and filing tariff for regulated product, assets, and services.

  • Experience working in a regulated utility developing, selling, designing, installing, maintaining, and operating regulated products, assets, and services.

  • Experience working in a regulated utility in customer service, engineering, project management, construction management and operations.

  • Experience modeling power generation projects using Lifecycle Costs, Capacity and Energy Value Analysis.

  • Experience setting up and utilizing Maximo or equivalent Work Management System (WMS).

  • Experience setting up and utilizing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA) or equivalent system.

  • Experience setting up and utilizing Asset Management, GIS Mapping or equivalent systems,

  • Experience in the development, measurement, and management of KPIs, goals, and metrics.

  • Experience in the development and management of business plans, budgets, and financial models.
