Provide administrative/research support in scheduling, reviewing and summarizing depositions, drafting of discovery and responses, preparation of form pleadings, organization of files, preparation and distribution of regulatory filings, electronic document and evidence gathering and preparation. Assists in trial preparation and trial proceedings.
Manages and works on discovery documents, including investigations, organization and preparation of discovery interrogatories, requests for production, and discovery responses. Manages and prepares court-ordered documents, including initial disclosures, witness lists, exhibit lists, preliminary reports, status reports, scheduling orders, pre-trial orders, etc. Maintains attorneys back-up calendar and provide attorneys with advance notice of upcoming deadlines, meetings, etc.
Proofreads and edits documents. Organizes, indexes and files documents (file management). Summarizes, where necessary, voluminous records.
Inputs, retrieves and manages documents in software programs such as Summation. Investigates and assembles facts and other data. Analyzes and compiles data in form required by attorneys (e.g., charts, etc.). Schedules witness interviews and depositions; summarizes depositions.
Performs other necessary research and cite-checking on Internet, etc. Assists in retaining, communicating with and obtaining relevant information from or for experts. Becomes knowledgable about issues in, and contents of, all litigation and other files assigned. Drafts reports, as needed, relating to employment and labor law matters and maintains detailed information relating to such matters.
Prepares litigation hold documents.
Minimum education required of the position
Paralegal degree/certificate and/or bachelor's degree
Minimum experience required of the position
Paralegal I : 0-5 years of work experience
Paralegal II : 5 years of work experience
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access (or other database programs) and ability to deliver system and/or process training and provide assistance to internal customer base. Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner. Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadlines/pressure. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task and work productively as a member of multi-disciplinary team. Perform document/record searches in Company file/databases. Team player with a willingness to perform job responsibilities at all levels in order to meet regulatory deadlines. Ability to work over-time and to attend out of town proceedings from time to time.
