Note: This is a hybrid position requiring in office work 2-3 days per week and can be based out of our offices in either New Orleans, LA or The Woodlands, TX. A selected candidate from outside one of these areas will need to relocate for this role. Relocation assistance is not available for this posting.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

The Manager of Category Management (IT) reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Corp & IT Strategic Procurement. Manage the strategic sourcing function for the identification and implementation of companywide contract initiatives in which the long-term availability of resources can be maintained at a competitive price, with appropriate quality/performance, such that operations and company business functions are supported.

Ensure contractual support of operations. Prepare responses to audits, condition reports and other data requests. Ensure GSA and Alliance agreements are strategically established to meet the overall needs of the company. Act on behalf of Strategic Sourcing leadership, as required. Maintain awareness of operation schedules and commitments (e.g. Milestones) to provide support for outage and project schedules.

The Manager of Category Management will work closely with various leaders and executives throughout Entergy. They will be responsible for; full understanding of all phases of contracting (from Bid, Award, Negotiation, Contract Development, Performance Monitoring, Claims, Dispute Resolution). Knowledge of analytical techniques to identify cost savings/sourcing opportunities. Knowledge of Power Plant/Utility Operations and Business Practices. Knowledge of legal/regulatory requirements. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization. Ability to develop and present business cases for complex, high dollar procurements. Excellent oral, written, problem solving and facilitating skills. Full understanding of all applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Outstanding communications, conflict management and change management skills.

Preferred office location is in New Orleans, LA but could be domiciled in Houston, TX or Jackson, MS. The position will require at least 25% travel to the field and corporate offices across the fleet.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety/Human Performance : Ensure the Team always puts safety first. Actively promote strong safety behaviors, utilizing key tools such as Close Call /Good Catch in addition to proactive field visits to review standards and behaviors. Monitoring and influencing Suppliers to proactively identify any safety concerns.

  • Goals/Objectives : Support leadership in implementation of goals, expectations, and objectives. Ensure appropriate assignment of work between operations and corporate procurement staff for service contracts. assignment of work between operations and corporate procurement staff for service contracts.

  • Engagement : Engage key business stakeholders and be actively involved in Operations strategic planning, supplier development, and field service improvements.

  • Plan/Strategy : Accountable/responsible for Developing and maintaining the Strategic Sourcing Plan for plant and operations such that cost reduction/savings opportunities are maximized.

  • Continuous Improvement : Create an environment of continuously finding ways to drive quality, speed and efficiency to make a positive and lasting impact. Partner with other areas across the Enterprise to ensure continuous improvement, driving a positive experience for all internal and external partners while delivering cost effective solutions.

  • Communication : Coach and mentors, his/her Supply Chain team to improve engagement with key stakeholders and to establish communication channels between the cross functional teams.

  • Partnership : Accountable for establishing and maintaining healthy and positive stakeholder relationships. This activity includes establishing cross-functional and cross-sector teams with key stakeholders and creating a multi-year demand plans with integrated supply chain solutions.

  • People Leadership : Accountable for leverage of Supply Chain’s Talent Management Strategy to assure the right Supply Chain talent is recruited, developed, retained, and deployed in line with key business priorities. Mentor and coach staff. This position will lead approximately 4-8 direct reports.

  • Culture : At all times the Leader shall operate with the highest ethical standards and in full compliance with internal controls, policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. Accountable through supply base partners to execute Entergy’s Supplier Development & Local Spend objectives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education and experience required of the position

Supply Chain degree or bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Engineering, or related discipline, minimum 5+ years of category management, strategic sourcing or other related supply chain experience and 3+ years of supervisory experience and/or equivalent leadership experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum 9+ years of category management, strategic sourcing or other related supply chain experience.

  • Strong business acumen, with knowledge and demonstrated experience of leading Category Management teams

  • Decisive leadership ability with the skill to influence others to action, and able to successfully implement strategies and process improvements.

  • Deep understanding of highly complex and technical hardware/software agreements

  • Able to build wide and effective networks of contacts inside and outside of the supply chain organization and Entergy.

  • Strategic and creative thinking that produces a range of solutions to problems, anticipates changes in the business environment, makes data driven decisions, and is focused on continuous improvement

  • Able to communicate complex scenarios and data with peers and staff, clearly articulate the organization’s strategy, and translate organizational plans into departmental strategies and plans.

  • Strong customer service, collaboration, and relationship management knowledge, skills, and abilities with an orientation to delivering results.

  • Able to utilize information, and information technology / systems to make fact-based decisions.

  • Proficient in using analytical tools to create project plans, supplier analysis, scorecards, etc. These analytical tools include MS Excel, MS Project, PowerBI and other planning and analysis tools.
