Note: This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days a week of in office work, and is primarily based out of Entergy’s headquarters in New Orleans, LA. Based on qualifications, the positon may also be housed out of our offices in Jackson, MS or Baton Rouge, LA. A selected candidate from outside the area would be expected to relocate for this opportunity, relocation assistance is available for this posting.
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Incident Response Manager will work to establish, maintain and continuously improve Entergy’s situational awareness program to enable early detection of potential or actual threats that could impact Entergy’s ability to achieve targeted business outcomes. Ensure Entergy’s situational awareness program and framework provide personnel with a comprehensive, accurate and timely understanding of the threat environment to enable faster, more informed decisions during real-time incidents that could impact Entergy - including but not limited to weather, fire, cyber-attacks, public health emergencies, social crises, or other threat incidents.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee Entergy’s situational awareness program to enable early detection of potentially critical events and maintaining real-time situational awareness to enable timely, informed decision-making and action before and during threat events. A critical event is any incident or occurrence that threatens Entergy’s ability to deliver targeted stakeholder outcomes and can include but is not limited to natural disasters, fires, public health emergencies, cyberattacks, or social crises. Situational awareness ensures staff members and external stakeholders have the information they need to safely perform their work in other processes such as incident management, controls management, vulnerability management, service continuity management, and risk management. It enables decision-makers to understand the current state of an incident and make informed choices about resources, strategies, and tactics.
Responsibilities:
Ensure that Entergy has a clearly defined mission and strategy for its situational awareness program that is aligned with protecting targeted stakeholder outcomes.
Oversee and maintain Entergy’s situational awareness framework and supporting processes and tools.
Ensure that procedures, processes and tools enable us to monitor, analyze, and report on real-time events to improve decision-making and enhance overall awareness. This includes ensuring we have the right procedures, processes and systems in place to collect and analyze data, identify trends, prepare reports, and communicate information to stakeholders.
Establish 24-7, year-round coverage to ensure that potential threats are identified in advance when possible and stakeholders are notified timely so that appropriate action can be taken to mitigate potential or imminent threats. Establish processes and systems that enable real-time detection and notification during threat events to enable informed decision-making and action.
Ensure that existing departments that are in place to monitor physical and cyber-security and oversee transmission, distribution, and generation 24-7 operations have access to situational awareness tools and understand how to use those tools. Work with those organizations to ensure action triggers, notification processes, etc. are clearly defined.
Ensure the situational awareness framework enables us to develop a common operating picture (COP) by collecting, fusing, and analyzing data to support automated or human decisions about appropriate actions to prevent disruption of a critical service or business process or to restore the service/process to proper function.
Lead efforts to automate and streamline Entergy’s situational awareness program and provide better, faster insights regarding how potential or actual threats will impact Entergy’s assets and infrastructure in order to protect worker and public health and safety and to maintain electric system reliability for customers.
Supervise one incident response specialist responsible for program support and execution.
Manage partnerships with external vendors and public agencies to ensure that situational awareness services and tools are delivering an appropriate return on investment from a risk mitigation perspective.
Periodically review the requirements of Entergy’s situational awareness program to ensure it is meeting the needs of an ever-evolving threat landscape and management’s organizational priorities.
Establish review mechanisms and metrics that enable insights regarding opportunities for programmatic improvements.
Oversee the situational awareness program budget.
Participate in external forums that will enable insights into how Entergy’s situational awareness program may need to evolve to address newly emerging threats and leverage best practices.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., information security, engineering, emergency management, intelligence analysis) or equivalent experience.
Minimum experience required of the position
5+ years of experience supporting or overseeing situational awareness programs or activities for a large organization with multiple business functions
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
Strong track record of establishing enterprise-wide programs or processes and working across multiple business functions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in relevant software, tools, and systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Understands how to synthesize large amounts of data and information into a format that enables quick decision-making.
Self-starter with strong project management ability.
Able to effectively communicate with all levels in the organization.
Able to motivate and manage others.
Effectively manages multiple priorities.
Proficient in computer operations and applications such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, Adobe products, ESRI.
Familiarity with the National Incident Management System.
Desired:
knowledge and proficiency with meteorological monitoring and forecasting
General knowledge of AI, automation, and system implementation related to enterprise risk management reporting and monitoring.
