This position will be filled as an Engineer III, or Senior based on qualifications and experience of the selected candidate
Job Summary/Purpose
This position is a system-level individual contributor who provides system level support, leadership, and representation for the Distribution Asset Planning organization. This engineer takes on tasks that generally affect all of Distribution Planning or that are best handled by a single individual with a broad view of Distribution Planning, and expertise with all of Distribution Planning’s information repositories and tools. This position keeps the Distribution Planning team within compliance boundaries and seeks continuous improvement for the team through standardization, process improvement, and innovation.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Plan and conduct independent engineering work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to solving problems.
Direct and mentor junior staff and oversee the engineering work on multiple projects; to include design package development, planning studies, reliability analysis, engineering standards development, and system operations.
Represent Entergy as a technical expert within Department. Represents department in Standards discussions and/or utility practices as the industry evolves
Oversee pre-construction or construction activities of distribution line and substation facilities.
Work with subcontractors, packages and equipment manufacturers and interface with clients on technical issues.
Manage the Distribution Planning project portfolio application, Capital Project Tracker (CPTrac):
Act as gatekeeper for new users
Interface with application architect to update functionality and troubleshoot problems
Update and run the associated querying tool as requested
Manage the Substation Querying and Reporting Tool (SQRT):
Act as gatekeeper for new users
Interface with application architect to update functionality and troubleshoot problems
Update source impedance data regularly
Become expert in all SQRT capabilities
Manage the AMI Dashboard Tool (PowerBi)
Act as gatekeeper for new users
Monitor reports refresh schedules
Manage Synergi software for Distribution Planning needs:
Act as gatekeeper for new users
Submit requests for Batch Load model extracts
Sponsor tutorial sessions with DNV Synergi every other month
Create tutorial documents for complex processes
Assist with updating Distribution Planning Guidelines & Distribution Planning Calendar annually
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical, Industrial) from four year accredited institution.
Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution with PE may be considered.
Desired: Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering Degree
Minimum experience required of the position
Engineer III - 4+ years’ experience in an engineering discipline (3+ years with Master’s Degree, or FE)
Engineer Sr - 6+ years’ experience in an engineering discipline without PE or PMP Certification (5 years with Master’s Degree, PE, or PMP certification)
