This position is in the Design Basis department, and will work with Design Engineering staff, Asset Management, construction personnel, procurement, vendors, and configuration management in support of Transmission Engineering Standards related to transmission & distribution Substation Equipment and Design.
Performs review and analysis of standards issues identified by internal customers. Recommend solutions to stakeholders, and lead teams to reach consensus. Create and revise TE Standard Documents, cat ID/stock codes, and standard drawings.
Uses engineering/technical principles, design processes/procedures, best practices, and knowledge of internal and external business issues to solve problems and develop cost-effective, high quality design solutions which provide value over equipment life cycle.
Supports activities to comply with applicable industry standards (i.e., NERC, SERC, IEEE, IEC) and other utility regulations, as required. Supports relationships with technical consortia, and local universities and educational institutions to build talent pipelines and support communities.
With Engineer and/or management oversight, applies knowledge of engineering principles in evaluating alternatives, making decisions, and interpreting/employing applicable electrical codes, procedures, standards, processes, and policies.
Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary.
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution.
Minimum experience required of the position
Sr. Engineer – 5+ years of experience in Substation Design, Relay Design, Substation Asset Management or other related technical engineering experience.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Demonstrate ability to apply engineering and design principles. Sound understanding of electric power flow theory. Understand construction methods and techniques, project management techniques, and applications of various engineering design. Mastery of relevant processes and policies, and excellent design skills. Consistency demonstrates good judgment. Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills. Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software. Basic theory of electricity. Ability to interpret construction drawings. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Self-motivated and dependable team player. Good math skills. Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards. Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets. Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base. Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement. Knowledgeable in MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

None required. PE certification preferred. EIT and/or PMP certification desired.
