POSITION SUMMARY

An entry level job within the Field Technician progression process. Provides the incumbent with experience and training necessary for advancement to Field Technician B level. Duties include field and design work associated with the construction, operation and maintenance of the Company’s electrical distribution system. Ability to effectively work and communicate with people both internal and external to the Company.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Performs or assists within the limits of ability and experience the duties contained in the job description entitled Field Technician C while under close supervision. Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure the proper design and efficient coordination of information for distribution projects. Provides accurate and timely cost estimates and designs for new Residential services, relocations and upgrade projects. Prepares designs and supporting documentation for additions and changes to the Company electric system. Actively participates in the weekly AWC Planning and Scheduling meetings. Will have storm restoration and emergency restoration assignments. Maintains a working knowledge and adherence to the rules and provisions of company environmental policies, Design Standards, and Safety Manual in the design of facilities. Listens to and understands the customer (both internal and external); anticipates customer needs; gives high priority to customer satisfaction. Prepares documentation for GIS map update process. Monitors and provides accurate need dates for all ongoing assigned projects. Provides timely response and follow-up to customer and contractor inquiries.The ultimate wage rate for this position is $31.53.

TYPICAL REQUIREMENTS (minimum)

Training and Experience

Associates degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or the equivalent in combined education and experience.

Knowledge/Skill

A working knowledge of electrical and construction nomenclature, equipment and procedures. Capable of accurately interpreting blue prints and company circuit maps. Effective written and oral communication skills. Effective computer skills Must successfully pass the EEI Tech Test. Knowledge of the National Electric Code as it pertains to service installations and customer requirements, and knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code as it pertains to the Eversource distribution system. Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
