Job Summary

Performs the most complex engineering, resource management, or scientific support tasks involving the application of specific or multidiscipline technology principles in an assigned area.

Lead role in conducting a wide range of complex environmental engineering operations and tests, experiments, and analyses. May also serve as a member of a team of resource management specialist, which has the responsibility of managing and protecting natural and cultural resources. May perform moderately complicated calculations on data and analyze, interpret, and evaluate data. Formulates recommendations based on analytical results to modify systems. May also operate facilities and conduct programs which directly serve the public or visiting professionals.

Applies environmental engineering fundamentals to engineering activities, preliminary project plans for approval. May also assist with planning, implementing and evaluating resource management practices, techniques and procedures which involve the application of scientific principles and guidelines. Able to work on complex projects or serve as the lead providing coordination of multidiscipline functions on complex projects.

Collects and tabulates scientific data used to make management recommendations. Directs or conducts land management activities which ensure the proper management and protection of natural and cultural resources. Monitors contractors to ensure compliance with all applicable standards and environmental laws or regulations.

May have full technical responsibility in an assigned work area.

Uses advanced knowledge of environmental engineering, resource management, or scientific technologies, operating procedures, and processes on a daily basis.

May direct/coordinate the work of other employees.

Supervision Received:

Independently performs work and is reviewed only for compliance with objectives. Technical advice is available upon request or for unusual, highly complex assignments. Assignments are provided by technical specialist. General guidance is provided through applicable technical management plans. Employee reviews assignments and selects the appropriate equipment and schedule for completion of the assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:Education and Experience/Certificates, Licenses, and Registration Requirements/Other Requirements

A.S. degree or equivalencies in education and at least 2 years experience at Environmental Technician Level 2; or a high school education and 5 or more years experience at the Environmental Technician Level II. May also require a certification or license for application of pesticides or other restricted use chemicals.
