Consumers Energy Technician Contractor Supv (Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, or Coldwater SC) in MULTIPLE LOCATIONS, Michigan

Location : This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday assigned to either the Kalamazoo, Battle Creek or Coldwater SC. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Technician Contractor Supervisor is responsible for ensuring contracted employees work safe and efficient during the execution of work. Leaders in this role have direct responsibility for contractual oversight. The Technician Design Contractor is responsible for planning, direction, technical coaching and oversight of a team of contracted staff to assure completion of Low Voltage Distribution Designs in a safe and cost-effective manner. Responsible for ensuring all aspects of design is completed by the contractor and approved by the supervisor. Supervisor is responsible for everything in the design and has full ownership of the contractors work. Supervises team of 5-12 contractors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Respond to complaints and requests for information on the status of jobs in progress to a high degree of accuracy and address customer concerns to a final resolution
Work collaboratively with other functional areas in the planning of New Business, System Improvement, and Third Party projects and contractor deliverables
Single point of contact for business partners attending scheduling calls, daily operating reviews, weekly operating reviews, monthly operating reviews along with other cross functional collaboration
Utilize technology and process enhancements impacting contractor oversight activities to drive efficiencies, cost savings and increased quality and performance
Managing and monitoring work performed in designated zones by contractors, including management of contractual items, (i.e. time reporting, assignment of work, quality, productivity, and schedule metrics)
Takes ownership of decision making and problem solving for contractor deliverables
Manage the scope, schedule and efficiency of projects; apply thorough understanding of policy coupled with leadership skills to resolve process and project barriers
Manage multiple projects at various stages of development concurrently provide planning and oversight to assure completion of work in a safe and cost-effective manner and within standard specification
This includes job site visits, technical reviews and identification of any nonconformance
Maintain reports of completed job orders and the status of jobs in progress
Inspect jobs for constructability, check on work progress, assure satisfactory completion, accurate bill of materials and oversees projects as required
Support Storm Restoration activities, duties will include a storm restoration role as an expectation
Enter and update metrics for transparent communication of status
Leads contractors in routine and non-routine work performed on Consumers Energy''s electric system
Other duties as assigned or may be necessary
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to lead multiple project/program tasks simultaneously
Knowledge of Electric Distribution engineering activities, safety requirements, work methods, work processes & related technology
Knowledge of planning and scheduling process and project management
Ability to solving problems utilizing Lean principles exhibiting good judgment and a realistic understanding of the issues
Ability to resolve process, contractor or customer issues
Skilled in negotiating & conflict resolution with internal and external clients
Ability to lead and build relationships
Ability to work collaboratively with excellent written and oral communication skills
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in related studies with four (4) or more years of experience in design and construction methods of electric/gas/water/utility systems and applicable standards pertaining to the design and operation of utility infrastructure. Experience building relationships and business acumen.
(OR) Associate’s degree in related studies with six (6) or more years of experience in design and construction methods of electric/gas/water/utility systems and applicable standards pertaining to the design and operation of utility infrastructure. Experience building relationships and business acumen.
(OR) High School Diploma/GED with eight (8) or more years of experience in design and construction methods of electric/gas/water/utility systems and applicable standards pertaining to the design and operation of utility infrastructure. Experience building relationships and business acumen.
