Overview

The IT Technical Analyst works with business partners and IT staff to identify business opportunities for application development solutions and new applications. The role will be responsible for the developing detailed design documents, collecting, and prioritizing business requirements, leading process identification, confirming deliverables, code development, creating test cases, and application support of IT solutions. Team utilizes Agile and Waterfall process to manage work. This will provide an opportunity for exposure into technologies utilized under Supply Chain, Safety, Business Services, Real Estate, Fleet, and Facilities business areas. The team works within defined company and department standards and has a focus on internal customer service. The team delivers secure, and quality applications using a broad set of core capabilities that extend across multiple technology stacks, including but not limited to Microsoft .NET, SAP ABAP, PO, SharePoint, BizTalk, and Redwood.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with business partners, technical team, technology partner, and vendors as necessary throughout the value delivery

  • Analyze business problems, identify technology options, and define detailed specifications of technology solutions according to company standards and guidelines; develop technical specifications using functional and/or business requirements as a starting point

  • Maintain a detailed working knowledge of the portfolio’s systems, organization, and business processes, specifically Supply Chain, Safety, Business Services, Real Estate, Fleet, and Facilities business functions

  • Identify, develop, deploy, and provide post implementation support of application technologies to support the company’s business requirements

  • Applies principles, methods, and procedures for designing, developing, optimizing, and integrating new and/or reusable systems components

  • Perform prototyping, design, development, testing, debugging, documentation, and implementation of software applications in an agile environment

  • Ensure that applications are optimized for state‐of‐the‐art technology and functionality, comply with regulatory requirements, and are consistent with the current and planned infrastructure and data environments

  • Provide Break/Fix Support, which requires analysis, configuration, developing test scenario scripts, performing test execution and production implementation for all business functions

  • Create and maintain thorough and easy to follow job aids, business process procedures and configuration documentation

  • Perform design, documentation, and implementation of complex, cost effective solutions; provide input to alternative solutions

  • Support the Testing Center of Excellence in requirement interpretation, test case development, data mining, specification interpretation and test case definition, ensuring test cases align to approved requirements

  • Ensure that information security policies, principles, and practices are an integral element of the system design

  • Enlist appropriate experts to ensure solutions are fully compliant with architecture process and standards

  • Provide systems expertise to system users, business partners, and other internal/external customers including trouble shooting issues, as well as, identifying and correcting inefficiencies

  • Build relationships with IT strategic suppliers to gain an understanding of cross-functional processes and required interactions between the suppliers and IT

  • Strengthen technical knowledge in new and existing technologies

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks and delays to the value delivery

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 year's experience

  • Knowledge of IT principles, methods, and practice; experienced in IT systems development process and procedures

  • Experience as an analyst exhibiting strong problem-solving skills, communicating in a clear and succinct manner, and effectively evaluating information/data to make decisions

  • Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer; builds strong customer relationships and creates processes with customer viewpoint

  • Knowledge of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Understanding for Agile Scrum methodology

  • Understanding of software test methodologies, test scripting and testing tools

  • Understanding of database management principles and methodologies, including data structures, data modeling, data warehousing, and transaction processing

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment

  • Self-motivation to operate with a high degree of autonomy

  • Knowledge of software design principles, methods, and approaches, mastery of, and skill in applying, systems engineering concepts and factors, such as: structured design, supportability, survivability, reliability, scalability, and maintainability

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting as well as independently

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field of study; Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or other IT-related area or equivalent experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Masters or other advanced degree, ideally in an IT or Business area

  • Energy industry background that includes a working knowledge of effectively mapping technology to business challenges

  • Experience in the SAP application and SAP ABAP

  • Experience with SAP PO

  • Experience with NetWeaver Gateway/OData

  • Experience with Microsoft .NET (C#, ASP.NET MVC) and SharePoint

  • Experience with BizTalk

  • Experience with Redwood Cronacle
