Position Summary

The Tax Compliance Lead will manage the implementation of a tax credit compliance program for the company’s renewable energy projects. The role will include understanding the applicable requirements of the Inflation Reduction Act and developing a program to ensure project-level compliance in order maximize monetization of tax credits.

Essential Functions:

  • Developing the tax credit compliance program under the Inflation Reduction Act for SJIEE and implementing the program across all of the organization’s renewable energy projects.

  • Establishing and monitoring processes to ensure the company is generating the maximum available credits from the planning phase to the operations phase of each project, including adherence to prevailing wage & apprenticeship requirements under the IRA and any available adders.

  • Managing the day-to-day compliance tasks to be carried out by cross-functional teams of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Coordinating all documentation required by consultants, including financial documents needed for cost-segregation reports, valuations, and tax eligibility memos, as well as documentation required for counterparty due diligence and insurance underwriting.

  • Working with the business leaders and the enterprise risk team to identify, assess and mitigate risks and develop preventive measures from a compliance perspective.

  • Providing resource support to team leaders as they design and implement controls in their processes to support the overall tax credit compliance program.

  • Tracking and reporting on status of credit generation and monetization.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret and apply complicated documents and policies with appropriate guidance.

  • Experience with developing and implementing business processes, experience specific to compliance function preferred.

  • Foundational accounting or financial reporting experience a plus.

  • Ability to organize and manage large volumes of information and documents.

  • Superior communication (written/verbal), presentation and meeting facilitation skills.

  • Highly motivated, takes initiative, and has a desire to drive process improvement.

  • Ability to learn quickly and work well under pressure with appropriate attention to detail.

  • Strong desire to create something and build a program from the ground-up.

  • Possess a working knowledge of the renewable energy industry.

Qualifications

Required Background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of relevant experience or,

  • Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience

  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
