Pike Corporation Senior Human Resources Generalist in Mount Airy, North Carolina

Position Summary: The Senior Human Resources Generalist assists with the administration and daily functioning of the Human Resources department in accordance with Company policies and procedures, as well as any applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform all tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs and policies, including but not limited to:

  • Administration of leave according to FMLA and/or ADA requests for accommodation according to federal and applicable state law, and company policies;

  • Serve as the point of contact for leave-related inquiries and assistance;

  • Administration of unemployment in multiple states for all subsidiary companies by timely responding to claims; serving as company representative in unemployment hearings, and coordinating and preparing witnesses; distributing separation notices as required by state law;

  • Coordinate and follow up on fit for duty assessments;

  • Oversee administration of the Company FR clothing and work boots program;

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal labor law notices for all company locations;

  • Administer employee referral bonus program, and assist as needed with employee recognition programs and initiatives;

  • Assist with employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to appropriate staff;

  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory changes, best practices, and new technologies in human resources;

  • Supervision of assignments and daily workflow of a at least one subordinate staff member in the department; may assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations;

  • Communicate effectively with both higher management, team members, and other departments, ensuring clear dissemination of information and feedback;

  • Perform other duties as assigned, adapting to changing business needs and objectives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree is required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, or a combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

  • SHRM Certification is preferred.

  • Prior experience in human resources; experience with Oracle.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows, and other relevant software; ability to adjust to new and changing computer systems and to operate standard office equipment.

  • Mastery of general office procedures and techniques; ability to update skills on a continual basis.

  • Excellent typing and data entry skills with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidential information.

  • Superior verbal and written communication, including grammar, composition, editing and proofreading.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; professional demeanor with a commitment to diversity and equality.

  • Strong organizational skills; able to organize and prioritize workflow; ability to manage multiple activities and projects, often with competing deadlines, and follow up on projects through completion, with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
