Position Summary

Responsible for supporting corporate level technical tool support and/or hardware at the Nuclear Generating Plants in Prairie Island and/or Monticello, MN. Focus on improving business operational results and processes including design, development, integration and implementation of day-to-day processes, organization and technology solutions. Drives consistency and change by providing expertise and leadership to monitor continuous process improvement, and manage change. Develops and leverages a thorough understanding of and experience in enterprise applications, hardware and infrastructure to increase efficiencies, ensure consistency, and added value.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Effectively use technical tools and respond to incidents that impact the environment.

  • Ensure that all agreed service levels are met. Ensure the Problem and Escalation Management procedures are correctly followed and that all problems are recorded in the appropriate problem management tools.

  • Provide support and coordination for Severity Incidents, ensure resolutions and documentation requirements are followed in resolving issues and assigning the operations incident to the proper area for Root Cause Analysis.

  • Anticipate, develop, and coordinate special projects in conjunction with operations leadership. Determine and develop operational improvements, track results and ensure tangible improvements are documented and communicated.

  • Assess, enhance and upgrade technical areas and work with system owners to address system issues and improve performance. Ensure system changes are incorporated and communicated effectively.

  • Maintain process documentation and steps for supporting all hardware and applications. This would include interaction with customers and vendor led support issues.

  • Ensure all control center, emergency response, and dispatch processes, and administrative processes are followed and in compliance with company regulatory requirements.

  • Configure, deploy, maintain and relocate desktops, laptops and other peripheral devices as directed for customers.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • At least two years experience in Operations, process management, process improvement in I/T Operations.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading teams is preferred.

  • Certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, MCSE, etc) would be preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in PC hardware and software diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair.

  • Proficient in the administration of Microsoft operating system and the Microsoft Office application suite.

  • Advanced knowledge of current PC technology, operating systems, applications, devices and networking (Wired /Wireless).

  • ITIL Foundations Certification preferred.

Strong preference given to applicants with Xcel Energy experience

A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).
