Summary

Manage Xcel Energy's corporate demand-side management (DSM) and demand-response management (DRM) strategy and planning. Work directly with Company leadership in developing and implementing DSM strategies and policies that maximize value to corporation and are consistent with overall Xcel Energy corporate strategy. Ensure compliance with DSM reporting and operations in all Xcel Energy states.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead Xcel Energy strategic planning on demand-side issues across all jurisdictions, including efforts related to energy efficiency and demand response programs. Interface with Company's business unit leaders and ensure consistency with corporate strategies.

  • Lead business unit integrated resource planning efforts in developing complex models to analyze benefits of demand-side management in serving customer load growth.

  • Manage team of analysts and consultants to ensure compliance with all demand-side management and demand response regulatory and legal requirements across 11 Xcel Energy states. Oversee project initiatives to ensure proper management of and cost recovery for budgets exceeding $75 million. Establish strong relationships with regulators.

  • Manage demand-side financial operations. Monitor and maximize performance-based incentives. Ensure cost recovery and cost control. Work with business unit Finance team to ensure accurate demand-side financial reporting.

  • Represent Xcel Energy in Midwest ISO demand-response activities, including participation in MISO Demand Response Task Force, developing responses to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission directives on DSM/DRM.

  • Lead community outreach efforts with key stakeholders to facilitate favorable outcomes for company DSM initiatives, particularly in connection with regulatory proceedings.

  • Lead research initiatives to validate DSM results and ensure continuous process improvements in design and management of DSM programs.

Required

  • MBA or Advanced degree (Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience or 8 years of related experience may substitute for the degree)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or related discipline

  • 10 years working within regulated industries

  • 5 years management or supervisory experience

  • 3 years Utility industry experience

  • Expert knowledge of demand-side management issues, policies, procedures, and compliance

  • Deep business, financial and engineering knowledge and expertise

  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and management skills Advanced analytical skills

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

  • Long term regulatory strategy experience

  • Resource planning/analytics experience

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $94,500 to $134,166 per year
